Minecraft: Education Edition is Available on Chromebooks for Back To School

As schools across the world prepare for Back to School and transition to remote, hybrid and in-person learning methods educators are using Minecraft: Education Edition to keep students active and connected. As part of our mission to help teachers parents, students, and teachers in this unique transition Minecraft: Education Edition app is now available for download. Minecraft: Education Edition app is now available for Chromebooks.



Since Minecraft: Education Edition first became available to schools in 2016 educators from all over the world have been asking when the platform would be made available to Chromebooks. We are thrilled to welcome Chromebook educators to the world of Minecraft and our worldwide teaching community, in collaboration with the Google Education team!



This release of Minecraft Education Edition also includes new features for users of every type of device that include Chromebooks, Windows, Mac and iPads. These features enable hybrid and remote learning in preparation for Back to School. We have eleven new STEM lessons, including a special Minecraft world that was developed with the American Beekeeping Federation's Kids and Bees Program. This Minecraft world will introduce students to honeybees and their pollination. These include new mobs, such as bees, foxes and honey blocks, and beehives as well as a better lesson library that includes tags for learning activities that make it easier to search for lessons.





How do I get Minecraft Education Edition for Chromebooks

Users of Chromebook, iPad, Windows, and Windows will be upgraded automatically to the latest version of Minecraft: Education Edition. Mac users will have to install it manually. For more information about Minecraft Education Edition for Chromebook go to the Help Center. The Chromebook version of Minecraft: Education Edition offers the same set of features as the other versions that include the ability to play with other platforms. Students who use the application on Chromebooks can collaborate with students on iPads or PCs for example. You already have Minecraft Education Edition access when your school is licensed with Microsoft 365 for Education (A3 and A5) Minecraft: Education Edition can be licensed with annual subscriptions. These subscriptions are available on the Microsoft Store for Education through volume licensing agreements or via resellers who are partners. Logging into the game requires the use of a Microsoft account. However, we are working to allow users to sign in using the Google account. Google account.
