Minecraft is nearing updates that could drastically alter the way you play when you want to play with game mechanics... or simply take a trip into an immersive virtual world. The update that will be available on October 18th for Minecraft's Windows 10, Pocket and Gear VR editions will introduce Add-Ons, which let you change how characters and objects behave by tweaking text files. Are you looking for giant chickens or Creepers that cause massive explosions? It's simple to make. Think of it as an entry point into the world of game mods without needing to master programming.
VR players, for instance they will receive more advanced controller support. The Bluetooth-enabled Xbox One gamepad, similar to the one supplied with the Xbox One S, can be used with Windows 10 and Gear VR editions. Oculus Rift users can also use Oculus Touch hand controls. If Minecraft in VR is still an ordinary PC or mobile game for the moment however, it should become a more distinctive experience following the update.
The new version also adds boss battles for the Windows 10, Pocket and Gear VR versions.
Console players don't have to wait until 18th April for something new. Mojang and Microsoft are releasing the Chinese Mythology Mash-Up. This will introduce characters and a setting inspired by the Chinese culture. You'll also find banners and more biological biomes that are logical, like Igloos and polar bears in Arctic climates. Xbox and Wii U gamers get this update on October 4th, whereas the PlayStation crowd will receive it on the 5th.
