Mojang Reassures Minecraft Fans about Microsoft Deal

Mojang reassures Minecraft fans about Microsoft deal

The boss of Minecraft-maker Mojang has reassured those who are worried about what's going to happen when Microsoft assumes control.

A $2.5bn (PS1.5bn) deal that will result in Microsoft acquire Mojang was announced in mid-September.

But Vu Bui Chief Operating Officer of Mojang, said there was no plan to change the game or how people can do with it.

The feedback from players will be crucial in helping to develop the game, he said.

"Nothing's really changing," said Mr Bui. " "We don't have any plans to change and, of course I can't discuss the situation in detail and I don't know everything, but we're still here, and the game's in place and business is as usual."

Mojang stated that he has always attempted to keep alive the enthusiasm that made the game well-known.

"Maintaining the authentic culture is a real challenge," he said. "It's an ideal culture that values the community and allows the community to play how they want with the game and to make it their own.

"It is the goal, as it has always been, to continue with this," he said to the BBC during an BBC interview at London's Olympia exhibition center in which he was delivering an address to the Brand Licensing Europe trade fair.

Although Mr. Bui acknowledged the deal was still in the works, he said Mojang was planning to work closely with its huge community of players.

Many of the fans of the game of building blocks have expressed concern about what might occur when Microsoft is in ultimate control.

Markus Persson (aka Notch), is the Minecraft inventor. He wrote about the reasons he was approaching Microsoft. He stated that it was too much for him to manage and was becoming an burden.

He wrote, "I can't take responsibility for something like this," shortly after details of the deal were disclosed.

"It's not about the money," he added. "It's all about my mental health."

Bui stated that there would be changes in the future. However, they will still be made with the input, comments and feedback from fans.

The current system in which Minecraft developers share their work long before it is added will be kept.

"We don't hide our features," he said.

Mojang began to display the new titles they were developing, even though he didn't know the details.

Mojang will allow players to test early versions of a title and assist the developers in improving it Bui said. Bui said.

A similar approach was used with Minecraft, and Mojang decided to replicate the process because it was demonstrated to benefit developers when they worked on a project.

It was not about replicating the success of Minecraft to create another title that was as popular. Bui said it was more about trust in the overall plan.

He stated, "We believe that model." Lion's roar "Regardless of their artistic style individuals should put their energy into whatever they believe in, no matter what happens.

"That's a noble effort," he added.

Mojang also stated that he believed it was a mistake to try and manage the Minecraft community or dictate what can be done with it.

He stated that it was better to get out of the way.

Mr. Bui said that sometimes people are the most imaginative when they are free to do what they like. "You must give them guidelines but in the majority of cases if you let people be creative they will come up with cooler stuff than we ever could ourselves."
