How To Play Minecraft (Beginner's Guide)

Unlike normal video games, Minecraft allows you to be in control of the game, and it also has the ability to allow players to be moderators and even build their own modding/coding directly into the game!





Getting started


Logging in and the main menu




This table outlines what you can do once you click the buttons in the main menu:



- SinglePlayer: Start or continue an easy game. The remaining portion of this article covers the options for starting an game in SinglePlayer mode.



- MultiPlayer: Join other players online.



- Languages: Change the language of the text in Minecraft. Popkorn The small button to the left of the Options button will display the speech bubble and a globe.



Options: Options: Manage game options such as graphics, sound, mouse controls, difficulty levels and general settings.



- Quit the Game: Close this window, except if your browser is in In-Browser mode.





Beginning your first game in SinglePlayer mode

1. To see a complete list of all worlds, click on the SinglePlayer button



If you're just beginning your journey in Minecraft this list ought to be blank.



2. To create a brand new game, click the Create New World button.



The Create New World page appears.






3. In the World Name text box, enter the name you like and click the Create New World button at the bottom of the screen.



Game cheats can increase or decrease the difficulty of your game. They also switch between Creative mode (or Adventure mode) when you turn them on. Cheats give you more control over the world when you're just getting started.



After you've created your world, the game automatically starts by creating it and placing your avatar character within it.





Selecting the correct game mode in Minecraft


Survival

- after randomly being created in a different world the players must attempt to survive by gathering material and shelter, gaining experience and fighting off hostile mobs.

Creative

- a game mode where players have instant access to almost all blocks and items are invulnerable and immune to death, and have the ability to fly. This game mode allows you to create and design unique worlds.

Adventure

- players interact with objects (levers buttons, levers) and mobs to complete the adventure.

Spectator

Invisible to everything and cannot interact with objects, blocks, or your inventory. This mode allows you to view other players' worlds.

Hardcore

Similar to the survival mode Hardcore is set to the "hard" difficulty level for the duration of the game and players cannot be respawned; after you die the map is erased (or you permanently become spectator).
