FDA's Deadliest Recalls 2022 Unplaced Feeding Tubes The most feared (Avanos Medical)
According to FDA recalls Avanos Medical's Cortrak2 feeding tube is among the most dangerous medical device.

Although 2022 isn't yet completed, FDA already has 50 medical devices listed on its recall list. This recall has caused the tragic deaths of 36 and 228 injuries. Avanos Medical ranks number one on the 2022 medical device malfunctions list with 23 deaths reported from an improperly placed feeding tube.


They are the four most grave medical device malfunctions according to the FDA recall notice.

Avanos Medical Remands Cortrak*2 Enal Access System for Feeding Tubs
The improper placement of tube feeding caused the deaths of 23 and injuries to 60.

In 2022 , this device malfunction was the main cause of death for all the medical equipment that was recalled.


Avanos Mediacal Cortrak 2 Avanos Medical has recalled the Cortrak*2 Enteral Access System due to reports of injuries and deaths resulting from nasoenteric and nasogastric feeding tubes were put in the wrong place.


Patients could suffer serious injury or even death, if a nasal tub or nasoenteric tube is incorrectly inserted. As a precautionary measure, Avanos Medical sent an alert to healthcare providers and suggested that the user or the hospital "...confirm the location of the NG/NI tubes per institution guidelines" Fox news reported.

Avanos Medical's recall notifications stated that the CORTRAK*2 Accessory System was misplaced in enteral tube feeding since the year 2015.

Baxter recalls SIGMA Spectrum Infusion Systems with Master Drug Library (Version 8) & Spectrum IQ Infusion Systems (Version 9)
Baxter received 51 serious injuries and three reports of death of patients in the past five years.

The medical device maker Baxter has recalled the device following numerous reports of a malfunctioning safety alarm. Medtronic recalls EMG reinforced Endotracheal Tube
The use of the device caused 3 injuries and two deaths.

The NIM CONTACT Reinforced EMG Endotracheal Tube as well as the NIM Standard Reinforced EMG Endotracheal Tube that are used to open an airway and to monitor the laryngeal nerves during head or neck surgeries - were the source of three accidents and two deaths in the lead up to Medtronic's recall. The use of this device led to 2 injuries, and 1 deaths.

Cortrak 2 eternal access system Baxter Healthcare Corporation, and Hillrom the subsidiary company, have recalled the Volara Systems. This is due to the fact that the adaptor for in-line ventilators might not permit patients who use at-home ventilators to receive enough oxygen. There are risks for affected patients which include choking upon mucus or other airway fluids or lung infections (pneumonia) that blocks oxygen from getting into the bloodstream (respiratory failure), brain injury caused by a lack of oxygen (hypoxia) and as well as death.
