Minecraft Java Edition 1.16.2

Ever since the Nether Update, the Piglins have been spotted sneaking into players and peeking into their chests. Well it's over! With 1.16.2, we're introducing the Piglin Brute - an Piglin so focused on guarding the Bastion Remnants' chests that even gold cannot hinder them.





Features


Accessibility

Two new accessibility settings have been added to help with visual comfort.



Distortion effects like nausea and the Nether portal overlay can now be eliminated - At lower values, nausea effects are replaced with green overlays as an alternative visualisation - Field of view effects, shown after speed modifiers have been applied, can now be reduced





Chat Delay

-- Chat delay has been added to the Chat Settings screen. Pressing F3+D clears the chat messages in queue





Bastion Remnants

- Tweaked the Bastion Remnant chest loot Chests in Bastion Remnants are now more likely to be placed on the top of gilded blackstone





Blocks

Brewing stands can be constructed using blackstone. Lanterns and Soul Lanterns may now be waterlogged - Crimson and warped fungus can be placed on mycelium Chains can be placed in all directions





Items

- Tools can now be classified based on materials in the creative inventor Totems for Undying now give the status effect of fire resistance of 40 seconds when activated





Mobs

Endermen won't place their blocks on bedrock blocks anymore - Zoglins are now shackled to a Zombified Piglin will soon be riding a Strider, and holding an Warped Fungus onto a Stick – Removed Herobrine





Piglins

- added Piglin Bruntes! The Piglin Brutes are can now be obtained by players who open or destroy a Chest Minecart. - Tweaked bartering loot





Piglin Brute

- Piglin Brutes are more powerful versions of Piglins that reside in bastions and protect the treasures there - In contrast to their cowardly and greedy counterparts, the Piglin Brutes cannot be distracted by gold and aren't afraid of anything - Piglin Brutes are able to attack people on the spot, regardless of what they wear - Piglin Brutes wield axes and don't require armor, since they're that tough.





Respawn Block Positions

Modified how respawn points are selected for beds as well as respawn anchors - Respawn anchors will prioritize corner directions over cardinal directions - Beds will be based on the side of the bed from which the player entered from and then spaces circling around the bed's foot up to the head of the bed. Respawning players will be facing the block they respawned on. Placing players onto dangerous blocks is now avoided when possible





Villagers

Villagers are now emitting green particles upon joining a village, setting an area for their home or acquiring the job site/profession. Villagers will lose their job sites when changing dimensions.





Technical

- Custom worlds now allow biomes that are custom. Sign edit screen will now start from existing sign text (should not have any noticeable impact on vanilla). Small changes to the data selection screens and resource pack selection screens. Tags now have optional entry.

spawnpoint & setworldspawn

The angle parameter was added to allow setting the default facing angle of a respawning player Syntax: spawnpoint [] []] Syntax: setworldspawn [] [] New parameters:



angle - Floating point angle in degrees. It is a relative modifier that supports it.





Customized world generation

- Custom world generation and dimension settings now use the same folder pattern in data packs as other resources (namespace//resource.json) - There is now experimental support for a worldgen folder in data packs worldgen/biome can contain biome definitions worldgen/configured_carver can contain definitions for world carver settings worldgen/configured_feature can contain definitions for feature placements worldgen/configured_structure_feature can contain definitions for structure placements worldgen/configured_surface_builder can contain definitions for surfaces worldgen/noise_settings can now contain noise configurations worldgen/processor_list can contain sets of block processors worldgen/template_pool can contain pool definitions for jigsaw structures - Custom biomes can now be used in the single biome/caves/floating islands world types (add the data pack containing the biome first) - Custom biomes can now be used in custom dimension generators





Limit on dedicated server packets

- Dedicated servers can now remove clients that send too many packets within seconds. This is controlled by the rate-limit settings of server.properties - The default rate limit of 0 indicates "no limit"





Pack selection screens

- While screen is open it will automatically update when the contents of the pack directory change. - Both pack selection screens will now display the contents of pack.png as pack icon





Pack version

Version of the Resource Pack that has been increased to 6





Tags


Optional entries

Entries in tags can now be marked as optional. Failure to resolve optional entries will not stop the entire tag from loading. Mc List Example:

Bugs

A total of over 150 bugs have also been fixed in this release!





Get the Release

To install the release, open the Minecraft Launcher and click play! Make sure that your Launcher is set to the "Latest Version" option.
