Minecraft builders are renovating 1.19 update's old cities as if they never were ruined.
As as if the gloomy and dark world of Minecraft 1.19 wasn't enough, intrepid builders are here to finish whole redesigns. There's a little light building in between other projects.
The massive structures that have been destroyed deep beneath are frightening by default: ruined pillars that swathe the dark, covered in sculk blocks , and screaming shrieks ready to summon an army of guards in the event that you do not tread lightly through their territory.
Maybe the wardens are only angry because their homes are in disrepair though. Luckily, these builders are renovating the ancient cities to restore them to their former splendor. Some have been completely renovated with lush cave greenery to show they used to be living cities that could sustain life. Others have their own stories and brighten up the darkness with a lot of bright blocks. At least one chose to keep the atmosphere spooky. Perhaps the cities of the past were always dangerous. The most daring of these builders have completed their builds in hardcore mode, not creative. I'm not going to be caught doing that.
These builds utilize the top Minecraft texture packs and shaders to produce vibrant auras. I've gathered some of the coolest ancient city builds and designs available today, along with a the link to the designer who came up with them. This is not the last of the amazing Minecrafting. We've also gathered some really impressive desert temples redesigns as well as underwater bases and many more of the best Minecraft designs.
The restored city of Unsorted Guy takes us back in the dark, deep time before it was surrounded by sculk and wardens. In this build showcase (opens in a new tab), Unsorted Guy explains how he began by replacing all the sculk with deepslate blocks. He also converted the ceilings to stalactites, and brought in a lot of leaves and vines from the lush caves. Unsorted Guy also relocates grass blocks, digs a stream, and creates his own version of an old city farm. This was once a bustling place. The final design has a mountain-city vibe because of all the water.
I'm getting big Atlantis vibes from this reimagined ancient city created by Andyisyoda. There's a lot of greenery being introduced to the site. Multiplayer Servers It's hard for us to believe that the underground cities were dull and gray.
In the build timelapse embedded above you can watch Andyisyoda constructing high-fantasy bridges across the surface of water and dripping with vines. Don't worry, they preserved some of the spookiness with a lava moat surrounding the giant center portal. In the end, they've got an entire sunken city that is surrounded by towers, huge lush greenery and walls of light.
Fixxitt412 has managed to create an entire city by hand, in a hardcore survival mode. This means that there is no existence after death. It took Fixxitt412 100 days. Fixxitt's design is also lush with manicured areas that are dotted with flowers and farms. However, they haven’t eliminated all the sculk completely. This is good.
The structure has a magical feel to it, with lots and lots of lights and stained-glass emanating from the copper conduits at the top of the central portal. They've even made plans for houses for some villagers to descend and live in the deep darkness, though I wonder how long they'd survive.
Another lush subterranean city was built by RandomGgames (opens in new tab) and OceanManRulesZaWardo. This one is more crowded and could even be as abandoned as the other cities from the past. Like the other gorgeous green buildings, this one uses a variety of vines and leaves, bringing in some classic old glowstone blocks for lighting. The pair seem to have removed all sculk in the area and replaced it with wood walkways, arches made of deep slate, and other landscaping elements.
This "build" is actually two images (opens new tab), but it's an impressive image that I couldn't resist putting it up for the other inspiration-seekers in this room.
This is the exact opposite of the peaceful green, lush recreations Seggie has made of the city's history. If Seggie ever fleshed this out, I have no doubt it would end up looking like a much more terrifying place than a Nether fortress. That skull archway and all the blue flames are genuinely foreboding.
This is not an actual Minecraft build. It's an actual Lego set design that is based on the ancient cities crafted by Veyniac540 (opens in a new tab). It's pretty cool. They've also put together building instructions and parts list in case you would like to build it yourself (opens in a new tab). Once you're done with Minecraft there are components and instructions to guide you.
