The FDA has identified Avanos Medical's recall of its Cortrak*2 intramuscular accessibility system. The recall of 629 devices distributed between 2016 and 2022 started on the 21st of March.

Cortrak*2 assists clinicians in placing medical feed tubes into patients who require nutrition through the tube.

In the wake of deaths and injuries, the system was recalled. A nasogastric, or the nasoenteric tube, that isn't properly inserted could cause injury to the vocal chords and trachea. This can lead to serious injury, or even death.
