How Fire Sprinklers Work
A fire sprinkler is a device that automatically releases water when a fire is detected. This device will also discharge water if a certain temperature is reached within a building. Fire sprinklers are a common safety feature and are widely used in buildings. In fact, over 40 million sprinkler heads are fitted worldwide every year.
Heat sensor bulb

In this project, the heat sensor bulb of fire sprinklers was compared to a standard glass bulb. The temperature difference between the glass bulb and the thermal sensor was calculated for three different scenarios. The first scenario involved a slow-growth fire. In this scenario, the glass bulb had the highest response time, whereas the other two scenarios involved a medium-growth fire and a fast-growth fire.

The temperature difference between the bulb and the fire is the primary factor that causes a sprinkler to go off. However, the temperature of a fire can rise much higher than the design temperature of the sprinkler bulb, which can cause the fire sprinkler to fail.
Glycerin-based liquid

A Glycerin-based liquid is used in fire sprinkler systems to put out fires and protect people and property. This liquid is mixed with water and pressurized air to form a solution that can fight fires. The liquid expands when the temperature reaches a certain limit and breaks the glass bulb, which opens the sprinkler and releases the fire-fighting air.

The glycerin-based liquid is activated when the air temperature reaches a certain temperature. When a fire breaks out beneath a sprinkler head, the glycerin expands and breaks the glass bulb, which releases water into the area below. The water is then released into the room, smothering the fire and putting it out. The amount of water that is released depends on the sprinkler system's design.
Concealed sprinkler head

Fire sprinklers are an important part of a fire protection system. However, many people do not understand how these systems work. This is because the fire sprinkler head is concealed within a ceiling void. This helps keep the occupants of a building unaware of the fire suppression system.
