Minecraft doco makers upload films to Pirate Bay
"We knew that the film would end up here eventually."
The Pirate Bay has posted an Minecraft documentary created by the producers. They hope that torrenters will download it.
Minecraft: The Story of Mojang The first feature-length documentary made by 2 Player Productions, "just three men trying to make it a living doing what they love" according to the Pirate Bay listing.
"We wanted to get here first , as the film would eventually end up here, and the most effective thing was to open the dialogue," stated the company.
"Torrents and piratery are ways to live and it's unlikely that this will be changing anytime soon."
The trio encourages those who enjoy the movie to purchase a DRM-free copy at US$8 (AU$7.69) or a DVD at US$20 (19.23).
"Maybe you don't have the money. Perhaps you'd like to test before buying. Minecraft servers Maybe you are furious at us for premiering the movie via Xbox Live. These are all fantastic reasons," 2 Player wrote.
"But if you feel that the issue of piracy is, as according to Gabe Newell's words 'a service problem,' take into consideration that we are selling DRM-free digital downloads that you can watch in whatever manner you please."
"The reason we kicked off the movie was because we didn't have enough cash to create it on our own. Even then, we still invested an enormous amount of our own money in the project. It took us nearly two years to finish.
According to its official website, Minecraft: The Story of Mojang follows the company's growth throughout its first year, as its popularity grows across the globe and into the homes of millions of gamers.
It also includes interviews with industry legends, such as Tim Schafer, Peter Molyneux and Tycho from Penny Arcade.
