1. Sejarah dan Mitologi Yunani yang paling banyak diterima saat ini adalah versi yang diceritakan oleh Hesiodos, dalam karyanya Theogonia. Versi ini adalah yang paling terkenal karena versi ini yang paling mudah dipahami dan diterima oleh nalar manusia.

Sampai akhirnya ramalan itu tersebar ketika Metis sedang mengandung. Zeus lalu memperdayai Metis untuk meminum sebuah ramuan yang mengubah Metis menjadi serangga. Setelah Metis berubah menjadi serangga, Zeus memakan istrinya sendiri.

Karena Atlas dan saudaranya, Menoetius memihak kepada para Titan (raksasa-raksasa yang melawan dewa) pada saat perang melawan 12 Olympians atau yang biasa dikenal dengan sebutan 12 dewa yaitu: Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Demeter, Athena, Hestia atau Dionysus, Apollo, Artemis, Ares, Aphrodite, Hephaestus dan Hermes.
