Pastor Chris Oyakhilome was born December 7, 1963, in Edo State in Nigeria. He was raised in a religious family with loving and dedicated parents. He is the son of the elder of elder T.E Oyakhilome. Angelina, one of the early pioneers of the Assemblies of God Church in Benin City, as well as the matriarch of the Oyakhilome clan. Pastor Chris Oyakhilome was a student at Edo College before winning a scholarship to pursue a degree in architecture at Bendel State University, known today as Ambrose Ali University, where he obtained an BSc in Architecture as well as an honorary Doctor of Science award. Additionally, he holds an honourary doctorate in divinity from Benson Idahosa University. Ambrose Ali University was where the Lord called him to serve the Lord and become a minister.

Under Pastor Chris's leadership, LoveWorld became a pioneer of satellite television and Christian programming. LoveWorldSAT is the first Christian television station to broadcast from Africa all day, via free-to-air networks. There are currently LoveWorld television stations available across cable and satellite networks around the world.

Christ Embassy has strong presence in Pastor Chris's homeland of Nigeria, South Africa and Canada. The church has two healing schools located in South Africa.

Music and Gospel Music are an important element of worship. Pastor Chris encourages Christ Embassy Churches to have a choir that is trained by the Loveworld Music and Arts Ministry, and through the spirit and direction of Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, many of these singers go on to be successful in their solo careers.

The Future African Leaders Foundation(FALF) is an organization that focuses on the continuing inspiring work of Pastor Chris.
