Seven amazing Minecraft creations by Joe Miller Technology reporter
Many of us remember being first introduced to Minecraft by Microsoft when it announced that it would pay $2.5bn (PS1.5bn) for the company that created the game that is the top-selling in the market.
For a number of years, an entire community of gamers has been working on the Minecraft universe, creating intricate cyberspace marvels.
Here are seven of our most-loved:
Game of Thrones
Mapmakers WesterosCraft are on a quest to recreate the world imagined by George RR Martin in the Game of Thrones books and the TV series. The goal is to create a stage for roleplaying within the fantasy world.
A working 16-bit computer
In just two weeks, a Minecraft gamer named ohmganesha created a 16-bit computer. The virtual machine has 32 bytes RAM (random-access memory) and 256 bytes ROM (read only memory).
This Cathedral
Patrix the architect of the cathedral, said it took him only two nights to build. He also said that he'd never been to a cathedral in his real life.
A hard drive that functions
Cody Littley's hard drive can store a single kilobyte of data, which might seem unimpressive when compared with everyday discs, until you consider that Mr. Littley - an undergraduate in computer science in Texas built it piece-by piece.
An entire city
The artists behind the Aurora City Project admit it might never be finished and the details of their cityscapes give some clues as to the reasons. Here are several pictures.
All of Denmark
The Danish government's attempt to have the entire country mapped using Minecraft was undertaken to help educate children. However the project was later vandalised, with portions of the landscape blown up with virtual "dynamite".
A playable guitar
Disco, the Minecraft creator can play 10 fundamental open chords on his cyber guitar. Think Of A demo can be viewed here.
