Lego is taking on Minecraft with a video game

Lego is a Danish toy company, has launched a rival video game similar to Minecraft.
Lego Worlds is available today priced at PS11.99 on the Steam gaming platform. The game's final release, which includes classic and contemporary playsets as well as popular mini-figures, is expected in 2016.
Feedback from players will be used to develop features.
Lego already sells Minecraft playsets that allow gamers to build their virtual creations. Lego Worlds invites fans to do the reverse.
Tom Stone, TT Games director of operations, said that Lego Worlds "embodies the physical, Lego brick building fun that fans have enjoyed for the years, and is now available on a brand-new digital platform that provides an entirely new experience that includes the iconic bricks."
He said, "From the brick-by–brick editor to a wide range of items characters and creatures that can populate your worlds - there are endless creative possibilities."
Favorite toy
Daniel Goldberg, who has written a book on the development of Minecraft and Minecraft, said that he "was shocked that it had taken so long".
He said that Minecraft was exactly what Lego should have done 10 years ago.
"I'm certain that it will be a huge success for them."
Markus Persson, the Swedish game developer who created Minecraft has not shied away from his love for Lego. It appears that the admiration is reciprocal.
Speaking last year, David Gram, Lego's marketing director, saidthat "Minecraft is a digital Lego. It's an excellent idea, but we wish we had invent it.
Mr Goldberg thinks Mr Persson also who is also known as Notch is likely to be "flattered" by the game.
"Lego was his favorite toy as a child and was the primary source of inspiration for Minecraft So it's great to see things come full circle," he said.
"I do not think there will be any animosity. MINECRAFT SERVERS In general, game designers are pleased when someone copies an existing title.
Lego is not just designed for children, but also at adult collectors.
Microsoft bought Minecraft in the year 2000. It has been a huge hit for both adults and children.
"The gamers who play Minecraft, has proved itself to be quite large so I'm confident there will be a place for both games," said Mr Goldberg.
