The Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Pittsburgh
The parish's history goes back to the year 1935. Records reveal that pew rents were paid with wood, poultry, and vegetables. In 1932, the parochial school closed for lack of teachers and funds. The parish later received $10,000 for major improvements to the church, school, and convent. The new church would be dedicated in 1956, with the new school opened in 1962 and the convent built in 1972. This article gives an overview of the history of the parish and its current condition.

Mary of the Divine Heart

The Sacred Hear Church in San Francisco features a small statue of the Blessed Mother, also known as Mary of the Divine Hear. In 1861, she was born to nobility in Germany. She attended school with the Sacred Heart Sisters in Bavaria, and returned home ill. She was ill for the rest of her life, and eventually entered the Good Shepherd Sisters in Munster. The Holy Father beatified her in 1975 and named her Maria of the Divine Heart.

The devotion to the Sacred Hear was introduced to the Western world by Saint Bernard of Clairvaux, who is often referred to as "the Doctor of the Heart of Mary". Another early writer, Francis de Sales, wrote of the perfections of the Sacred Hear and dedicated a book to it, "Theotimus". Pope Julius II and the ascetic Lanspergius also dwelt on the Sacred Hear of Mary.

Sacred Heart of Jesus devotion

Despite its widespread popularity, the sanctity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus has faced some challenges in its long history. First of all, the heart is a symbol of love and devotion, but this does not mean that Jesus only loved God; He loved men as well. Instead, devotion focuses on Jesus' love for men. Secondly, it is important to note that the devotion is not about the heart's anatomy or physiology, but rather the love of the Sacred Heart.

The Sacred Heart of Jesus is an important symbol in Christian faith and spirituality. According to Scripture, it was the heart of Christ that healed the sick and made the dead alive. This heart was also the seat of God's eternal love. This love was so great that even the soldiers pierced Jesus' side, and then the blood flowed out of the wound. And the blood flowed into the water as the soldiers walked away from the scene.

The cherished Symbol of Sacred Love and Mercy is the centerpiece of The Sacred Heart Church. The Sacred Heart of Jesus statue is a stunning focal point of this church and a beautiful reminder of the sanctity of the heart of Jesus. The Sacred Heart statue is part of the Renaissance Collection by Joseph's Studio. Designed by artist Charles DeLisa, the Sacred Heart is 37.5" high and was originally crafted of marble. In a recent restoration, Heritage Restoration worked to retouch the statue, replace the fading colors with deeper reds and improve the detail.

The restored Sculpture of the Sacred Heart was unveiled during a Divine Mercy Mass at St. Patrick Cathedral on September 15, 2020. A number of parishioners were visibly moved and in tears as the statue was unveiled. Afterward, photos and videos were taken of the statue, which was greeted by rousing applause. The Sacred Heart is a symbol of hope and love, and a powerful example of the power of prayer.
