Minecraft star Stampy Cat to deliver RSE Christmas speech

YouTube and Minecraft legend Stampy Cat is to deliver an educational program in front of 2,000 students in Dundee.

Stampy, whose real name was Joseph Garrett, will deliver the Royal Society of Edinburgh's Christmas Lecture in Caird Hall on Monday.
The creator of the "Let's Play" videos for Minecraft and other games has more than 6.7m subscribers on his YouTube channel.
The lecture on Thursday will only be available on BBC iPlayer.
BBC Scotland reported that Minecraft fans will get to see Stampy demonstrate how he creates his videos during a discussion with Chris van der Kuyl, Dundee games entrepreneur.
Stampy will tell his story of how he made Christmas special , and provide insight into his personal life.
Van der Kuyl stated that Stampy was the "epitome digital native of the 21st century" who could inspire viewers regardless of their age.
"Stampy is a source of inspiration for an entire new generation of young people who clearly see that the future of jobs will be based on a unique combination of talents as well as creativity, technical and design abilities that can be learned by everyone," he added.
The RSE lecture will be held as part of BBC Make it Digital, an initiative to encourage digital imagination among young people.
