Many of us were first introduced to Minecraft when Microsoft announced that it would pay $2.5bn (PS1.5bn) for the company behind the best-selling video game.
For many years, a dedicated community has been creating amazing cyberspace marvels in Minecraft for a long time.
Here are seven of our most-loved:
Game of Thrones
Mapmakers WesterosCraft are on a mission to recreate the world imagined by George RR Martin in the Game of Thrones books and TV series. The goal is to create an opportunity for roleplaying in the fantasy world.
A working 16-bit computer
In less than two weeks, a Minecraft gamer named ohmganesha created a 16-bit computer. The virtual machine comes with 32 bytes of RAM (random-access memory) and the 256 bytes of ROM (read-only memory).
This Cathedral
Patrix, the edifice's architect, said it took him just two nights to construct. He said that he had never been inside a cathedral in person.
A hard drive that works
Cody Littley's hard drive can store one kilobyte data. Just another blog It may seem like a small amount compared to everyday discs. However, when you consider the fact that Mr. Littley is an enrolled Texas computer science PhD student, constructed it piece-by-piece.
An entire city
The Aurora City Project artists admit that the project may never be completed. However, the detailed cityscapes show the reason. Here are some photos.
All of Denmark
The Danish government's effort to have the entire country mapped on Minecraft was a way to educate children. However the project was then destroyed, with parts of the landscape being destroyed by using virtual "dynamite".
