The Minecraft RTS Spinoff is Inventing new Enemies, Too.

Like Minecraft Dungeons, Legends is creating new mobs for Minecraft.

Magnus Nedfors, Minecraft Legends director of creative, and Dennis Ries, executive producer met at the Xbox booth livestream this week to share some details about Legends. They also provided information about new mobs that are both friends and foe. Mojang Interactive and Blackbird Interactive are launching a new RTS spinoff that will be a major hit in the Minecraft world, just as with previous genre experiments. Dungeons stepped out of the confines of the existing Minecraft lore to create mobs that be suited to its action RPG setting and Legends is following suit.

As we saw in its initial trailer for the reveal The main villains of Minecraft Legends are the familiar Nether denizens, the Piglins. While we're familiar with Piglins and Hoglins in Vanilla Minecraft, Legends is adding what Nedfors calls a "Pigmadillo," which crouches down into a cube, and contrary to what you'd expect from the cube's physics it rolls in a way that is offensive to the thing it's attacking. There are also "Bruisers" that Ries points out have two giant razor blades to wield. Bit horror-esque, innit? The new trailer for Mojang's cinematic film has both mobs.



On the other side you'll find two types of golem joining your army: the Cobblestone Golem who is great at destroying structures of enemies and the Plank Golem which Ries calls is a "Plank Golem" that is an armed unit that can be ranged. You can also utilize speed wheat and a special mushroom to jump higher to travel around the world and unlock new Legends areas.



Minecraft Dungeons, for its part, also added new mobs such as the Iceologers and Mountaineers. The Iceologers ended up being included in the Minecraft Live 2020 fan vote for the mob to be added to Vanilla Minecraft. They were defeated by the Glow Squid, however I wouldn't be too surprised to see one of these new Legends baddies getting the same chance at Vanilla Minecraft fame.



And in case you missed it, there's a badger at the beginning of the trailer as well. Project Badger was the codename of Minecraft Legends before it was announced. It could be a reference to. But , who knows, maybe it'll make it to official mob status too.
