Minecraft Java Edition 1.16.2

Ever since the Nether Update, the Piglins have been spotted sneaking into players and peeking into their chests - well they're no more! With 1.16.2, we're unveiling the Piglin Brute - an Piglin so focused on guarding the Bastion Remnants chests that even gold won't keep them from their duties.





Features


Accessibility

Two new accessibility settings have been added to help with visual comfort.



Now you can minimize distortion effects such as nausea and the Nether portal overlay. When the values are lower the nausea effect can be replaced by a green overlay to provide an alternative visualization. - Field effects can be diminished after speed modifications have been applied.

Chat Delay

Chat delay is now available on the Chat Settings screen. Pressing F3+D clears all chat messages in queue





Bastion Remnants

Remove the Bastion Remnant chest loot. Bastion Remnants chests are more likely to be set on top of gilded stone.





Blocks

Brewing stands can now be crafted with blackstone - Lanterns and Soul Lanterns may now be waterlogged - Crimson and warped fungus can now be placed on mycelium Chains can now be positioned in all orientations





Items

- Tools are now sorted according to the material found in the creative inventory - Totems of undying now provide the status effect of fire resistance for 40 seconds after activation.





Mobs

Endermen will no longer place their block that they hold on bedrock blocks any longer - Zoglins are now leashed and a Zombified Piglin will be riding a Strider and holding an Warped Fungus onto a Stick – Removed Herobrine





Piglins

- Added Piglin Brutes! The Piglin Brutes are now available for players who open or destroy a Chest Minecart. - Tweaked bartering loot





Piglin Brute

- Piglin Brutes are stronger versions of Piglins who live in bastions and protect the treasures in them. Unlike the their cowardly and greedy counterparts Piglin Brutes cannot be distracted by gold and aren't afraid of anything - Piglin Brutes attack players on sight, no matter what they wear - Piglin Brutes wield axes and don't require armor, as they're that tough





Respawn Block Positions

Modified the way respawn locations are selected for beds as well as anchors for respawns. Anchors will prioritize corner directions over cardinal directions - Beds will prioritize the side of the bed that the player entered from and spaces circling around the bed's foot up to the head of the bed. Respawning players now have to face the block they respawned at . - placing players on blocks that could be dangerous is now avoided whenever possible.





Villagers

Villagers are now emitting green particles when they join the village, setting up a home bed or acquiring an occupation site or job Villagers will lose their job sites when changing dimensions.





Technical

Custom worlds now have the ability to create the creation of custom biomes. Sign edit screen now start from existing sign text (should not have any noticeable impact on vanilla). Small improvements to the selection screens for data and the resource pack selection screens. Tags now be entered with an optional option.

execute in now respects dimension scaling





spawnpoint & setworldspawn

Introduced an angle parameter for setting the default angle of a player that is respawning. Syntax: spawnpoint [] [] [] Syntax setworldspawn New parameters:



angle - Floating point angle in degrees. Supports the relative modifier





Creation of custom-made, custom-designed worlds

- Custom world generation and dimension settings now use the same folder pattern in data packs as other resources (namespace//resource.json) - There is now experimental support for a worldgen folder in data packs worldgen/biome can contain biome definitions worldgen/configured_carver can contain definitions for world carver settings worldgen/configured_feature can contain definitions for feature placements worldgen/configured_structure_feature can contain definitions for structure placements worldgen/configured_surface_builder can contain definitions for surfaces worldgen/noise_settings can now contain noise configurations worldgen/processor_list can contain sets of block processors worldgen/template_pool can contain pool definitions for jigsaw structures - Custom biomes can now be used in the single biome/caves/floating islands world types (add the data pack containing the biome first) - Custom biomes can now be used in custom dimension generators





Limit of packets per dedicated server

Dedicated servers can now stop clients who send too many packets per second. This is controlled with the rate-limit settings within server.properties. The default rate limit of zero means "no limit".





Pack selection screens

- When screen is open it will update automatically when the contents of the pack directory change. The pack selection screen will now display the contents of pack.png as a pack icon





Pack version

Version 6 of the Resource Pack has been raised





Tags


Optional entries

The entries in tags can now be marked as optional. The failure to resolve entries that are optional will not stop the entire tag from loading. Example:

A total of more than 150 bugs were fixed in this release!





Get the Release
