Sacred Heart Church

The Sacred Heart Church began construction in 1927, but labor problems delayed its completion until July of 1928. During that time, Father Stephen Dalla Via commissioned renowned Waltham architect Aldo A. Minotti to design a new church. The architect accepted the commission and allowed himself to express his creative talents. Ultimately, the superstructure is a striking example of modern architecture. It is also one of the tallest churches in the state, with a height of 65 feet and a base of 85 feet.

The Sacred Heart Church is dedicated to maintaining the mission and providing religious services for its parishioners. It also strives to educate the community on Catholic beliefs and concepts. It is a beautiful building, which provides a warm atmosphere for worship. All people are welcome here and there are regular services, weddings, and events organized here. If you're not Catholic, don't worry - the Sacred Heart Church can still accommodate you!

Sacred Heart Church octave

The Octave of the Feast of the Sacred Heart was originally a day of solemnity dedicated to the Mother of God, a feast that had alternated in the Church calendar over the centuries. In recent centuries, however, this feast was restored to its ancient place in the Roman calendar on Jan. 1. It is fitting that the Octave should celebrate the mother of the Incarnate Word.

In 1856, Pope Pius IX extended the Feast of the Sacred Heart to the Latin Church. He raised the day to a double rite of first class and added an octave to the Mass. In 1928, Pope Pius XI elevated the feast to its highest rank and added the octave. Later, during the 1955 reforms, the octave was removed and a new one was established to honor the Eucharistic Heart.
