The bikes are made by all-terrain bike manufacturer Tekna and come with a lifetime guarantee. The University of Leeds reserves the right to terminate a hire contract without prior notice if they feel that the bike is being used for commercial purposes.
University of Leeds product
The University of Leeds is keen to encourage cycling for commuters. The city has some of the worst air quality in the UK, and traffic is notoriously bad. leedsbicycle.com wants colleagues to use cycling to get to work as a healthy and cost-effective way to travel. The city has a comprehensive system of bike lanes and the Bike Hub provides route planning and advice to staff. For PS20 a month, staff can hire an electric bike. This is intended to introduce staff to cycling and build their confidence on the road.
The bikes are available for hire from the university. Students can use them for personal use only. If you are planning on using them for commercial purposes, you must be a student or staff member of the University. Otherwise, leedsbicycle.com has the right to revoke your bicycle hire contract without warning. The university reserves the right to charge you for damages caused by commercial use. If you are interested in cycling as a form of transport, contact the University of Leeds and ask about the Cycle to Work Scheme.
UoL student
A UoL student has donated a bicycle to his university, where he has been riding it for two years. Victor Onwukwe was among 20 international students at the university who qualified for a free bicycle, lock, and helmet. The bicycle was donated by the Leeds-based charity, Pedal it Forward, which refurbishes used bikes and distributes them to deserving students. He is now riding the bicycle, and hopes to use it for more than leisure.
Staff
Cycling has become a popular way of transport in Leeds, and the Staff of Leeds Bicycle is encouraging staff to swap office chairs for cycling saddles this September. The firm is aiming to raise PS5,000 for Leeds-based charity Little Hiccups. The cycle ride will also help raise awareness about the benefits of cycling, as well as raise money for this worthwhile cause. The company is proud to be supporting this worthy cause. By joining the Staff of Leeds Bicycle, you can help make cycling more enjoyable for the staff and students of the University of Leeds.

All Terrain Cycles has opened a new shop in Wetherby, Yorkshire. The 9,000 square foot showroom is home to over 1,000 bikes and has a bike workshop with a trained mechanic. The store was opened by the Lord Mayor of Leeds, who rode a specially constructed racing tricycle. It has since become one of the UK's largest bike retailers. Its renowned customer service has earned it a reputation for excellence.
All Terrain Cycles Leeds is one of Yorkshire's leading cycling retailers. The team is comprised of three members of the store's road cycling team, plus local riders James Welsh and Andy North. The riders will set off on July 7 and aim to finish by July 10.
