Minecraft: Story Mode's eagerly-awaited Wii U version will start rolling out this week, with the first episode, "The Order of the Stone," which launches Jan. 21, the developers Telltale Games & Mojang announced today.
Episode One will be available on the Nintendo eShop starting at $4.99 in North America, and the equivalent in Europe. The subsequent chapters will be available "in the coming weeks," Telltale said in an announcement. Wii U owners will eventually be able to purchase a season pass for episodes two through five for $19.99.
Telltale had announced plans to release Minecraft Story Mode on Wii U last year. Offtopic hut However the first four episodes were made available on other platforms which include Android, iOS and Mac. Today, Telltale will provide details regarding the Wii U's launch schedule. The Wii U versions of Minecraft: Story Mode will be compatible with GamePad features, including offline play and touchscreen controls.
The release of Minecraft: Story Mode on Wii U represents the first time Telltale has released a game on Nintendo's latest console.
"Working with Nintendo, we're tremendously excited to bring our unique style of storytelling to Wii U for the first time and we couldn't be happier to kick things off with a series such as Minecraft: Story Mode that allows gamers of all ages to create their own story in the Minecraft universe," said Telltale co-founder and CEO Kevin Bruner.
Minecraft: Story Mode is an Telltale adventure game based on Minecraft, the sandbox game from Mojang. Minecraft was released on Wii U last month. Telltale's episodic series stars Patton Oswalt, Catherine Taber, Martha Plimpton, Scott Porter, Corey Feldman, John Hodgman, Paul Reubens and other actors who are well-known.
