Minecraft is written in Java. It is necessary to have both the 32-bit and 64 bit versions of Java in order to increase the RAM.

If you are using an older Minecraft launcher version or use other launchers in addition to the official, you can follow the same procedure, but you will need to locate the arguments options by yourself.

Step 1: Check Available Memory
This should be the first step, but if you already know how much memory have on your computer, you can continue with the next step.
Open the File Explorer and right-click on " This PC" then in the menu click Properties.
A new window will open and you will have to go to the section System. You will be able to view the memory available on your computer under the section Installed memory (RAM)
Also, remember to limit your use of memory in Minecraft.
Some recommended option is using the half of your memory. In this instance I will only use 2GB of my 4GB Ram.
Step 2: Allocate more memory

1. Open the Minecraft Launcher and login into your account
2. Now, you must navigate to the
Installations
Tab
3. There find the Latest release line, and then click on the
Three dots button

Edit
4. In the Edit Installation window you must go to the bottom of the window and click on
More Options
5. Then, locate the cursor within the section.
JVM ARGUMENTS
6. You'll need to modify argument -Xmx2G according to the amount of memory you'd like to allocate. If you're going to use 8GB of memory, you must change it as follows: -Xmx8G
7. Click the
Save
button to apply the changes, and then you can click on the Play button to start Minecraft
8. After playing the game, you must to verify that you have allocated memory by pressing the key F3
