Why miHoYo Is Against Genshin Impact Private Servers

As detailed above, many players want private servers so that they can be removed from the online storefront. The problem is this is the only form of monetisation in the game since it's free-to-play. Famously, Genshin Impact made over 100 million dollars in the first two weeks following release.

With the company line telling players that wishes can be bought with Primogems which are free to earn in the game, many players have expressed their frustration at having to grind gameplay for many hours to accrue enough Primogems to spend. Through social media channels this is a contentious issue, with many agreeing with this point and others arguing that the system is a fair model for a free-to-play-game. How To Play On Genshin Impact Private Servers

One member of the Genshin Impact community took it upon themselves to look into the coding for Genshin Impact with the aim to facilitate a local simulation to allow offline playing, rather than a creation of a private server and run the risk of legal action being taken against them. This gained traction and they were contacted by a team claiming to be tasked at decrypting the release client.

Since then, websites and YouTube tutorials have cropped up claiming that they have access to private servers where unlockable characters and resources are available for free. Many that have claimed to replicate this have expressed that unlocking the game and removing the grind actually takes away enjoyment for the game.
