Teenager Arrested Over Mass School Bomb Hoax

A teenage boy believed to be at the heart of the Minecraft gamers' dispute has been arrested after an explosion that shut down hundreds of colleges and schools across the UK.

Hertfordshire police arrested the 19-year-old after 24,000 threats to schools were sent warning of a bomb attack , and soliciting money.

The emails appear to have been sent by VeltPvP, a gaming network. VeltPvP is a Minecraft player-versus player server, which is the kind of server that businesses use to sell products to gamers.

A teenager thought to be at the center of a Minecraft gamers' squabble has been arrested after an attack that engulfed the entire world shut down hundreds of schools across the UK. Hertfordshire police arrested the 19-year old after 24,000 emails were sent out to schools informing them of an impending attack.

These emails were sent to disable VeltPvP and were intended to cause the abuse of the domain to be suspended.

The National Crime Agency (NCA), stated that there was no credible threat to the emails that were received this week.

They acknowledged that they were aware of the concerns of teachers and parents however, they stressed that there was no real threat from the emails sent to schools.

"However we take the information seriously. As this is a live investigation, we are unable to provide further information.'

In the wake of the hoax email bombs there were signs posted outside Cardinal Road School in Feltham

The feud was based on the notion that rivals were involved in illegal activities in order to hinder each other from doing business.

"It's awful and it's not the most pleasant thing', one of the hoaxers said when asked whether they regretted the effect the letters had had on school students who were forced to evacuate.

In blaming VeltPvP the hoaxer claimed VeltPvP was involved in a campaign of Direct Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, which he alleges were used to attempt to stop other rival Minecraft servers.

Following the fake bomb email threat, parents were told to bring their children home.

VeltPvP released a statement saying that they were being hounded and harassed by cybercriminals.

"We apologize deeply for anyone who has been affected by this, but we just want to let you know that this is not real."

The email was sent to more than 400 colleges and universities across the nation. Extreme Craft claimed that the bomb was already planted and would explode if the money was not given.

Cardinal Road School in Feltham West London was one of the schools who received the hoax email

Police forces from London, Bristol, Liverpool and Bedfordshire were among those who were questioned.

Parents have requested to be allowed to collect their children from school due concerns about the emails.

Six schools in Hertfordshire were also affected: Abbots Hill, Valley School, Stevenage, The Sele School, Duncombe School, Stanborough School, Watford, St Albans High School, and Valley School.
