You can focus some of the exercises on speed. Do jumping squats to increase the speed of your reflex muscles. Jump on a foot and squat. Stand straight up, then jump back down to do a squat. This exercise can be repeated 40 times per day, and the step's height can gradually be increased.

Recently a coach asked me how I would attack or beat a zone defense in youth football and it really somewhat of a generic question. I told him to be honest and identify that it was a defense zone. How do you do this?

What does make sense is to scrimmage or practice with a team who has some bigger running backs, the week or weeks leading up to this game. If your team is like mine, we rarely if ever have any big athletic running backs to practice against on our own team. You need to find a way for your team to practice against a bigger athlete to increase their confidence.
