Once the clock receives and decodes the code from the radio station, it will then apply time zone corrections so that it shows local times. The radio station provides the time as Universal Time. Call channel 16 FM. Most VHF radios monitor this frequency even with the radio tuned to another channel. However, you should be cautious as vessels in distress will use this frequency to send out MAYDAY messages. After the other vessel has acknowledged your call (see #4), you can change frequency.
