Traveling to Tavernier Florida
The town of Tavernier, Florida, is located on the south end of the St. Lucie Island area. It is located on the south side of the island, between Holmes Island and St. Lucie Island. The first description of the town was recorded way back in 1734 by Captain James Smith. According to Smith, it was a small fishing village that was located on a beach that was known as Smith's Beach. Smith's Beach is where the first St. Lucie Island ferry crosses the island.

The history of Tavernier, Florida is part of its rich background in American history. Tavernier got its name from the French, following which it was named St. Lucie. As years passed, it grew into a popular destination for a summer home and became a popular vacation spot. Today, it attracts vacationers from all over the world. It is considered a tourist destination because it has an authentic atmosphere combined with a convenient location.

The Town of Tavernier Florida, just like most towns in Florida, was named after a previous governor. George neutrality had governed the town from 1734 until his death. At the time of his death, there were two thousand and nine men living in the Town of Tavernier. Cataleya of the town was on top of a hill overlooking the ocean, which is located at a location known as Point D'Oreille. Today, the settlement is located on a hill located to the south of the beach that Smith's Beach is located on.

Smith's Beach is located on a barrier island between Holmes Island and St. Lucie Island. This location was selected because of its proximity to Smith's Island, where many sailing, boating and fishing activities take place. Smith's Beach is the main residential area for the town of Tavernier, Florida.

When traveling to the town of Tavernier, Florida you will notice the two largest bridges in Florida. These bridges span the Belleayre River and connect the two towns. This bridge, which is located on the south side of the town, was constructed in eighteen seventy-nine by the French Connection Company. Just to Cataleya of this bridge is another bridge, this one known as the Soufriere Bridge. This bridge spans the St. Lucie River and connects the town to the mainland.

Traveling to the mainland can be a bit difficult due to the high tides and rain. If you are visiting during the rainy season, you should consider renting a boat so that you may paddle across the St. Lucie Island. Another option would be to take a trip out to Atlantic Ocean by motorboat. This option is usually faster than traveling by boat and costs less.

The next thing that you will want to do is view the view from your hotel. The best way to get a view of this part of town would be to head out to the Belleayre River. Cataleya will find the Belleayre Islander House sitting on the banks of the river. This house was built in seventeen seventy by Louis Johnson, one of the most prosperous residents of the town. It sits on the banks of the river in the center of town.

Just a short walking distance from the Belleayre Islander House is another popular attraction. This place is known as the City Park of Tavernier Florida. This park has many different things to do such as playing tennis, swimming, hiking, and biking. For a much more family-oriented environment, there is also a concession stand just down the street from City Park. It is located between the Belleayre and St Lucie Islander House.
