This is a short and easy guide on the best way to arrange a multiplayer server operating the latest version of Minecraft.
This guide has been examined on Ubuntu 16.04 and 18.04.
Setup
Create a brand new Ubuntu droplet on DigitalOcean. Be sure that it has at least 2GB of RAM, and you provide it along with your SSH key.
SSH into the server and install Java, which is required for Minecraft to run.
Moreover, set up Screen, which can allow us to run the server in the background.
Running the Server

Create a directory to put in the server recordsdata and download the server.
Start a new display session.
Run the server.
Exit the screen session.
You might need to replace your firewall configuration so that the correct ports are open if you're getting the message "Unable to connect to world".
