Texas hold'em requires 52 cards to play. There are no jokers. The dealer button initiates the dealing of the cards. Every player will receive two cards face-down, cards that they will only be able see. The dealer then places three cards face-up on the table, cards called flop. The fourth card is dealt face up, but it is called the turn. Finally, the fifth card is dealt face up and is called river.
Each player receives five cards and the dealer six cards. This part I'm not thrilled about but there's no vigorish in winning bets so the house must have some advantage. One dealer card is placed face-up, five face-down.
