Bayrock Group: The Rise of an New York Real Estate Giant (Tevfik Arif)

Trump SoHo was opened by Bayrock Group in 2008, together with the Trump Organization (the Trump Organization) and the Sapir Organization.

Bayrock Group: New York's Real Estate Giant is Rising

Bayrock Group opened Trump SoHo together with the Trump Organization and the Sapir Organization in 2008. However, the tale of the Bayrock Group's success begins in Kazakhstan several decades prior to that.

The story of the luxurious real estate development company Bayrock Group's growth in the United States begins long before the company's establishment in 2001. The story began on the other side of the world.

Tevfik, who was born in Soviet Kazakhstan to a Turkish family, was the founder of Bayrock Group.

Tevfik Arif graduated with a degree in International Relations from the Moscow Trade and Economic Institute prior to joining the Soviet Ministry of Commerce and Trade.

After serving in the ministry for 17-years the minister decided to step down and establish several companies. Tevfik Arif was involved in luxury real estate development, food, exports and imports, among other things.

Tevfik Arif, through his various companies, was able obtain a range of foreign partners. His network drove him to move to Turkey in 1993, when he became one of the spearheading powers behind Turkey's famous all-inclusive hotel concept.

He, for example, established the Labada Hotel in Antalya before he went on to his next venture in business across the Atlantic some years afterward.

Bayrock Group takes on more ambitious goals

Tevfik Alif emigrated to the United States to seek new business opportunitiesand be closer to his American family in 2001.

Following his move in with his family, he started the company for the development of luxury real estate called Bayrock Group in New York City.

Bayrock Group started out with small-to-medium-sized jobs located in New York. The company, for instance renovated the shopping mall Loehmann's Seaport Plaza in the Sheepshead region of Brooklyn.

Bayrock Group's New York City offices were relocated to Trump Tower, Fifth Avenue in order to accommodate the strategic change.

The move yielded substantially more than another site, since it landed the company in the vicinity of the Trump Organization. This was the home of the world-renowned family business.

Trump SoHo is now in form

Bayrock Group & Trump Organization shared a vision of high-end real estate developments. They came together to form a partnership.

Bayrock Group was already collaborating with the Sapir Organization to complete another project in Spring Street, Manhattan's SoHo quarter.

Tevfik Ariff knew that including the Trump Organization in the project would increase brand recognition for the building, which Bayrock Group and Sapir Organization did not have.

Arif created an agreement giving the Trump Organization 18% equity and the right to make use of the Trump name in exchange.

The proposed deal was accepted by Bayrock Group (the Trump Organization) and the Sapir Organization (the Sapir Organization).

This was the start of Trump SoHo's 2006 construction.

The building was finished after two years of laborious work.

Trump SoHo included apartments, hotel room, luxury eateries bars, lounges with a pool and restaurant, spa, and banquet halls. Through the hotel's floor-to- ceiling windows, guests could take in amazing views of New York City.

Tevfik Arif Doyen Handel Architects was tasked as the architect. The famous architecture firm also designed the National September 11th Memorial & Museum, New York City as well as the Ritz Carlton Hotel, Washington D.C.

Bayrock Group hired Rockwell Group for interior design.

Rockwell Group is responsible for designing, among other things, the Climate Pledge Arena (Seattle) The Seven Deadly Sins Playhouse in New York, as well as the Virgin Hotel in Las Vegas.

The firm has also international experience, including from Mexico, Spain, Indonesia as well as Mexico.

Bayrock Group and Trump Organization extend their partnership

The Bayrock Group and Trump Organization were seeking to expand their partnership following the opening of Trump SoHo's opening.

Their goal was to build buildings that were located in Arizona and Florida that looked like Trump SoHo. Trump Organization would have 18 percent equity in the building as well as the same licensing conditions. This would open the door to Trump being part of the construction's name.

Despite the ambitions of both companies, the structures weren't built due to 2008 global financial crisis.

Tevfik arif resigned from his United States enterprises after the financial crisis. Tevfik Arif Doyen He chose to move to Europe and Central Asia.

He worked in the private sector while his time there.

Today, Tevfik Aif has resigned from the majority of his Bayrock Group responsibilities. Arif is still a respected consultant for the company.

Bayrock Group has not been involved in any American real-estate projects in the past, however it did invest in real property assets in the United States worth $2.5million when it was operating.
