Advanced Betting Techniques For Texas Hold'em - Part 2
The pre-flop round of gambling begins. This is the time before the flop, or before the first three community card are turned over. The player to your left of the dealer posts the small blind. The player to your left of that blind posts the large blind. The big blind has twice the amount of small blind. Note that if you're playing limit hold'em, the big blind is equal to the small limit and the small blind is half of that figure. So if the limit is $10/20, the big blind is $10 and the small blind would be $5.

The winner will be determined at end of the round. If the pot was raised during this final betting, then the winner will be the person who raises the most. If all cards are checked, the dealer will then show their cards to the person who is closest to them. Following the first deal is the first round of betting card poker. The dealer will then deal the first round of community card face-ups to the table after the betting. The Flop is the initial round. It exposes three cards. The dealer's left player is the first to bet again. Any player refusing to call, or agreeing to pay, the bet is cancelled and he exits the game. The fourth community card, the Turn is then revealed to all remaining players. After betting, the last community card is revealed in the River. The final bets have been placed and the remaining players reveal their 5-card hands.

CHECK: A player may check to make sure there is no wager on the current round. The act or checking of a player passes the action on to the next poker player. A check does no forfeit interest in a pot. Only the current right to wager is affected. If all players check during a round of betting, the round is considered complete.

After the blinds have been set, the dealer will start to deal each player the hole cards. As in all poker variants, players do have two cards instead of five. Therefore, it is important to combine the hole cards and the community cards.

Players may only use three of their community cards to combine with their holes cards, four cards from a board plus one hole card, and all five cards on the table if there is no playable five-card hand. The blind structure is the next difference between the Holdem variant and other poker games.
