GlyphosateSecuring our food supply for years to come Why farmers use the use of glyphosate for sustainable farming.
It's evident that the world's population is growing. It is predicted that the world will contain 9.7 billion people by 2050.1 Unfortunately, the agricultural land in the world is not expanding at the same rate as ours. This poses some serious challenges for farmers tasked with producing enough food of high-quality to feed Canadians and the rest of the globe.

Canada is currently ranked 5th in global food exports.2 Canadian farmers will play crucial roles in providing the food we need. They will have to satisfy an ever-increasing demand to deal with pests and diseases as well as weather variations and ensure their land remains fit for the future.

Farmers aren't able cope with this increasing demand on their own. Modern technology, like herbicides and glyphosate are able aid farmers in controlling the weeds effectively and efficiently. This means the sustainability of a stable and sustainable food supply.

What is glyphosate? How does it work?

Glyphosate is a popular choice as a non-selectiveand versatile herbicide by land managers as well as gardeners across the globe. It's been used for over 40 years. It acts by reducing the activity of an enzyme the plants (in this example, unwanted herbicides) require to develop. The enzymes don't exist in animals or in animals.4 Therefore glyphosate poses little risk for the other.

There's also a wide number of other uses for glyphosate beyond agriculture. It is used in municipalities to protect the public and wildlife against toxic weeds.6 Furthermore, it's employed to stop the spread of fire and to maintain visibility on railway tracks.

Recently, there has been an increase in attention paid to the use of glyphosate in our everyday lives. While it's important for us to be aware about the food we consume and drink, it's also important to consider the fact that over 160 regulatory bodies around the world (including Health Canada) agree that glyphosate can be safely utilized when used correctly.

Canadians will be able to understand what glyphosate is and how it operates and why it is so important for food production.

Glyphosate is a chemical pesticide which can be utilized in agriculture.

Glyphosate-based herbicides are beneficial to consumers, farmers, as well as the environment. It is crucial to efficient control of weeds, a safe food supply, environmental sustainability, and sustainable weed management. Let's look deeper into each of these benefits.

グリホサート 樹木 In the world farmers are losing 30-40 percent of their crops due to weeds, pests and disease.9 If they don't employ crop protection practices the losses could increase by as much as 80% according to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization. https://search.kakaku.com/%8F%9C%91%90%8D%DC%20%83O%83%8A%83z%83T%81%5B%83g/ This is devastating, particularly for farmers who rely on these crops to earn a living.

It's not surprising that farmers have been relying on their tools every year. Applying glyphosate on fields- especially with glyphosate tolerant crops -- is an effective method to prevent destructive weeds from taking over their crops.9 So far the time of writing, no other weed control method can match the level effectiveness, both economically and economically.

The battle between weeds and crops -- The struggle of their lives

Glyphosate offers crops the chance to win against up to 30,000 weed species for light, space and nutrients, as well as water.

Canadians as well as global consumers benefit from the abundance of, affordable food items

The population is increasing and half of our food-growing land could become unusable within forty years. This is leading to food insecurity. Canadians will pay less than 55% for food if there are no modern farming innovations such as the use or glyphosate.11

The food we love will be harder to come by. Farmers will be able grow more of the food staples we love for many years due to the advancements in research in plant science.

Glyphosate isn't just used to manage weeds and ensure that you can afford food items at the store, though. It also assists farmers in taking care of what Cherilyn Jolly-Nagle is a farmer from Mossbank, Saskatchewan calls "their most valuable asset"--their land.

Keep the food that we love on the table

The growth of farmers is enhanced when crop protection tools (including the glyphosate) are used to safeguard crops from pests or diseases.

42% more grain like corn and wheat

72% more fruit

83 percent more vegetables and potatoes12

The benefits of glyphosate's use are obvious. Is glyphosate safe to use?

グリホサート Simply said it, yes. As with all pesticides , they should be applied according to the directions on the label. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) checks crops for pesticide residue and ensures farmers are using the product correctly. The Pest Management Regulatory Agency, (PMRA) is a regulatory agency that provides guidelines, product submission evaluations, approvals (or rejects) and is one of the most rigorous evaluation procedures in the world.

Although regulatory agencies make sure that farmers are using approved herbicides, farmers and manufacturers have a significant role to play in making sure glyphosate has been used correctly and safely to ensure that there is no unintentional harm to animals, the environment as well as human people.

Technology advancements and precision agriculture allows farmers to use data to create precise applications of glyphosate. グリホサート This includes the location and amount.

When it comes to pesticide residue, it is rare for glyphosate to be detected on food and, in the case of limits it is not likely to cause harm. The CFIA ensures farmers use herbicides properly and work within the established residue limits.16 On the rare occasions that it is detected at very low amounts (e.g., 1 part per billion) the amount is lower than the limit set by the Government of Canada, and is not a safety or health concern17 as it would not cause any harm to humans or animals.18

Glyphosate is an ingredient used in sustainable agriculture practices.

Farmers employ herbicides like glyphosate as part of integrated pest/weed management practices. This means they use more herbicides, not just weedicides. Glyphosate has enabled them to adopt conservation-based tillage or non-till methods which provide long-term benefits to the soil, air , and the natural the environment.

- Reduction or elimination plowing/tilling land

Reduction of CO2 emissions

Capturing carbon soil

- Improving soil's health

- Limiting erosion and water runoff

"No pesticide regulator in the whole world currently believes that glyphosate is risk to human health at the present levels." - Health Canada (January 11, 2019).

Ensuring Canadian farmers are equipped with the technology, tools and resources they require to meet the increasing food supply demands of an increasing population is more important now than ever before.

The most efficient agricultural, food safety and methods for controlling pests will help farmers keep our food supply plentiful and safe. グリホサート And glyphosate is just one of the many instruments they'll employ to make sure Canadians as well as people all over the globe, have access to nutritious and affordable food--now and for generations to come. グリホサート 分析
