Bayrock Group: The Rise of a New York Real Estate Giant

Bayrock Group opened Trump SoHo alongside the Trump Organization in 2008 and the Sapir Organization. However, the story of Bayrock Group's growth begins in Kazakhstan several decades prior to that.

Tevfik Arif The story about the luxury real estate development firm Bayrock Group's growth in the United States begins long before the company's establishment in 2001. It all began on the other end of the planet.

Tevfik Arif earned an undergraduate degree in International Relations at the Moscow Trade and Economic Institute prior to becoming a member of the Soviet Ministry of Commerce and Trade.

After 17 years with the ministry, he decided to start his own business. Tevfik Arif was involved in luxury real estate development foods, exports, food and imports, among other things.

Tevfik Arif, through his many companies, was able to acquire a wide variety of foreign partners. It was his networker, and brought him to Turkey in 1993, where he became one of the pioneering forces behind Turkey's concept of an all-inclusive hotel.

He also opened, for instance the Labada Hotel Antalya. This was before he went on to his next venture, which took place a few years later, across the Atlantic.

Bayrock Group is becoming more ambitious

Tevfik arif moved into the United States from Pakistan in 2001 to pursue new avenues for business and to be closer to his American family.

After he moved, he founded the luxury real estate development company Bayrock Group in New York City.

Bayrock Group was a small and medium-sized business that was founded in New York. The company, for instance transformed the shopping center of Loehmann's Seaport Plaza in the Sheepshead neighborhood of Brooklyn.

Bayrock Group was off to great start and it made Tevfik Arif ever more eager. He was eager for larger projects and decided that he would modify the business's strategy to be more focused on those.

The move resulted in a lot more than just the addition of a new site. It also placed the business within the vicinity of the Trump Organization. The building also served as home to the internationally recognized family company.

Trump SoHo takes shape

Bayrock Group and Trump Organization shared the same vision for luxury real-estate projects. Both companies agreed that they would join forces.

Bayrock Group was already working with the Sapir Organization on another undertaking in Manhattan's SoHo Quarter, located on Spring Street.

Tevfik Ariff was aware that including the Trump Organization in the project will increase the brand's recognition for the building, something Bayrock Group and Sapir Organization were not able to achieve.

Arif created an agreement giving the Trump Organization 18% equity and the right to utilize the Trump name in exchange.

Two years after the construction began the building was completed to be inaugurated.

Trump SoHo was designed by veterans

Trump SoHo was comprised of rooms, apartments and luxurious bars and eateries. There was also the spa and pool. Through the hotel's floor-to- ceiling windows, guests could enjoy amazing panoramas of New York City.

Handel Architects was tasked by the design of the building. The famous architecture firm also designed the National September 11th Memorial & Museum, New York City, and the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Washington D.C.

Bayrock Group employed Rockwell Group to take care of the interior design of the building.

Rockwell Group is responsible for designing, among other things among other things, the Climate Pledge Arena (Seattle), the Seven Deadly Sins Playhouse in New York, as well as the Virgin Hotel in Las Vegas.

The company also has experience in international countries like Indonesia, Mexico and Spain.

Bayrock Group and Trump Organization strengthen their relationship

The Bayrock Group and the Trump Organization were looking to expand their relationship following the opening of Trump SoHo.

The dream of the founders was to construct structures in Arizona or Florida like Trump SoHo. Trump Organization also received 18 percent equity in the construction under the same licensing conditions. Tevfik Arif It would again pave the way to "Trump" to be a part of the name of the building.

Despite the two companies' ambitions, the structures were never constructed due to the global financial crisis of 2008.

The recession particularly affected the American real estate market, which consequently, forced Bayrock Group and the Trump Organization to stop their plans.

The financial crisis resulted in changing the American real estate market to such an degree that Tevfik Arif decided to quit his United States undertakings. He made the decision to go back to Europe or Central Asia.

There, he continued working in the private sector.

Tevfik Alif has resigned his position as Bayrock Group's chief executive. However, he is still an expert consultant for the company.

Bayrock Group is not currently involved in American real estate projects. But, in the past during the time during the time when the company was operating it invested in real estate assets valued at $2.5 million in the United States.
