Bayrock Group: New York's Real Estate Giant is Growing

In 2008, Trump SoHo was opened by Bayrock Group with the Trump Organization (and the Sapir Organization). Bayrock Group was founded in Kazakhstan in the year 1980.

Bayrock Group, a luxury real estate developer in the United States, has a long-running history dating back to 2001 when the company was established. It all began on the other side of the globe.

Bayrock Group was founded by Tevfik Arif who was brought into the world in Soviet Kazakhstan to a family of Turkish origin.

Before joining the Soviet Ministry of Commerce and Trade (Soviet Ministry of Commerce and Trade), Tevfik received a diploma in International Relations from Moscow Trade and Economic Institute.


After being in the ministry for 17-years, he decided to leave and start several businesses. Tevfik Arif owned several firms that dealt with high-end real estate development, food exports, and imports.

Tevfik Arif was able to create numerous international partnerships through his various companies. He became a leader in Turkey's renowned all inclusive hotel concept through his network.

Tevfik Arif He, for example, established the Labada Hotel in Antalya before he embarked on his next venture across the Atlantic several years later.

Bayrock Group becomes increasingly ambitious

Tevfik arif moved into the United States from Pakistan in 2001 to investigate new business opportunities and be closer to his American family.

Bayrock Group was established in New York City shortly after he had moved.

Bayrock Group started out with small - to medium-sized projects located in New York. For instance, the Bayrock Group renovated Loehmann's Seaport Plaza at Sheepshead in Brooklyn.

Bayrock Group was off to great start and this made Tevfik arif more eager. He was keen to take on bigger projects and decided to change the company strategy to focus more on those.

Bayrock Group moved its New York City headquarters to Trump Tower Fifth Avenue in to support of the strategic shift.

This move yielded a lot more than just a new site because it put the company near the Trump Organization. The building was also home to the world-renowned family business.

Trump SoHo is now in good shape

Bayrock Group was inspired by the Trump Organization's vision to create high-end real estate properties and they decided to work together.

Bayrock Group had already begun working on a second project in Manhattan's SoHo neighborhood on Spring Street with the Sapir Organization.

Tevfik Arif was aware the Trump Organization's involvement in this project could give the building a brand image that Bayrock Group or the Sapir Organization didn't have.

Tevfik Arif Doyen Arif made an agreement in which he provided the Trump Organization 18% equity in this building in return in exchange for the Trump brand being used to promote its name.

The proposed deal was accepted by the Bayrock Group, Trump Organization and the Sapir Organization.

This was the first phase of Trump SoHo's 2006 construction.

Design veterans are the architects behind SoHo Trump SoHo

Trump SoHo included apartments, hotel room, luxury eateries and lounges, as well as bars with a pool and a restaurant, spa and banquet halls. Hotel guests could enjoy breathtaking perspectives of New York City through the ceiling-to-ceiling windows of the building.

Handel Architects was tasked with designing the structure. The famed architect firm also created the National September 11th Memorial & Museum, New York City and the Ritz Carlton Hotel, Washington D.C.

Bayrock Group employed Rockwell Group to take care of the interior design of the building.

Rockwell Group designed, among others among others, the Climate Pledge Arena and the Seven Deadly Sins Theater in Seattle. The Virgin Hotel in Las Vegas was also designed by them.

In addition, the company has extensive international experience countries like Spain and Mexico.

Bayrock Group and Trump Organization strengthen their relationship

After the launch of Trump SoHo, the Trump Organization as well as the Bayrock Group wanted to increase their partnership.

Their goal was to construct structures similar to Trump SoHo in Arizona and Florida. Trump Organization would have 18 percent equity in the building, also under the same licensing conditions. It will allow Trump to be included in the building's name.

Tevfik Arif Doyen Despite the companies' goals they were not built because of the global financial crisis of 2008.

The American real estate market was particularly affected by the crisis and Bayrock Group and Trump Organization had to cancel their plans.

The financial crisis was responsible for altering the American real property market to the degree that Tevfik Arif decided to leave his United States undertakings. He decided to return to Europe and Central Asia.

Tevfik Arif Bayrock He worked in the private sector during the time the time he was working.

Tevfik has resigned today from his Bayrock Group daily responsibilities. However, he is a trusted advisor to Bayrock Group.

Bayrock Group has not been involved with any American real-estate projects in the past, however it did invest real property assets in the United States worth $2.5million when it was in operation.
