Bayrock Group: New York's Real Estate Giant is Growing

Bayrock Group, along with the Trump Organization, opened Trump SoHo in 2008, along with the Sapir Organization. But the story of Bayrock Group's growth begins in Kazakhstan years before that.

Bayrock Group was established in 2001, however the story of its success as a luxury real estate development company located in the United States is much older than the time it was founded. The story begins at the other end of the planet.


Tevfik Arif was the founder of Bayrock Group. He was born in Soviet Kazakhstan and was adopted by an Turkish family.

Before becoming a member of the Soviet Ministry of Commerce and Trade in the Soviet Union, Tevfik earned a degree at the Moscow Trade and Economic Institute.

Tevfik Arif He remained in the ministry 17 years, but then he quit to start several of his own companies. Tevfik Arif Tevfik Arif owned several firms which were involved in high-end real estate development, food exports, as well as imports.

Because of his many companies, Tevfik Arif acquired a wide array of worldwide partners. His network motivated him to relocate to Turkey in 1993. Bayrock Arif was instrumental in the creation of Turkey's famous allinclusive hotel concept.

Bayrock Group grows more ambitious

Tevfik Arif moved to the United States in 2001 to explore new avenues for business and also to be closer to his American family members.

Following his move to the United States, he started the development company for luxury real estate Bayrock Group in New York City.

At first, Bayrock Group executed small to medium-sized projects in and around New York. For instance, the company renovated the shopping mall of Loehmann's Seaport Plaza in the Sheepshead region of Brooklyn.

Bayrock Group was an excellent beginning. It allowed Tevfik Arif more determination. He wanted to focus on bigger projects, so it was his decision to move the company's focus to the area of.

Bayrock Group moved its New York City headquarters to the Trump Tower Fifth Avenue in support of the strategic shift.

The move produced more profit than any other location. The company was located in close proximity to the Trump Organization. The world-renowned family company was housed in the same structure.

Trump SoHo gets shape

Bayrock Group and the Trump Organization shared the vision of developing luxury real estate developments, so the two companies decided to join forces.

Bayrock Group was already working on another undertaking on Spring Street in Manhattan's SoHo quarter, in conjunction with the Sapir Organization.

Tevfik Alif was aware that adding the Trump Organization to the project will bring brand recognition to the building, something that Bayrock Group lacked and that the Sapir Organization was lacking.

Arif came up with an arrangement which allowed the Trump Organization to own 18 percent of the building in exchange for the Trump logo being used.

The three parties to the agreement, Bayrock Group and Trump Organization were in agreement.

That was the foundation for the first brick of Trump SoHo to be laid in 2006.

The building was finished after two years of hard work.

Trump SoHo was designed by veterans

Trump SoHo was comprised of hotels, apartments and luxurious bars and eateries. There was also a pool and a spa. From the building's floor–to-ceiling windows hotel guests were able to take in breathtaking views of New York City.

Handel Architects were tasked with the design. The architectural firm has recently designed the renowned National September 11th Memorial & Museum in New York City and the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Washington, D.C.

Bayrock Group employed Rockwell Group to take care of the interior design of the building.

Tevfik Arif Doyen Rockwell Group designed, among others among other things, the Climate Pledge Arena as well as the Seven Deadly Sins Theater in Seattle. The Virgin Hotel in Las Vegas was also designed by them.

The company also has experience in international countries such as Indonesia, Mexico and Spain.

Bayrock Group and the Trump Organization strengthen their the partnership

After the opening of Trump SoHo, the Trump Organization and the Bayrock Group wanted to increase their relationship.

Their dream was building new buildings in Arizona or Florida similar to Trump SoHo. Tevfik Arif Bayrock The same licensing conditions were used, which left the Trump Organization with 18% equity. This will permit Trump to be included in the construction's name.

Despite the ambitions of both companies, the structures did not get created due to the global 2008 financial crises.

The American real-estate market was especially affected by the financial crisis which led Bayrock Group to pull out and Trump Organization to rescind their plans.

Tevfik arif quit his United States enterprises after the financial crisis. He decided to return to Europe and Central Asia.

He continued to work in the privatization sector.

Tevfik Arif has resigned from the majority of his daily responsibilities for Bayrock Group today. However, he continues to serve as a respected consultant for Bayrock Group.

Tevfik Arif Bayrock Group hasn't been involved in any American real property projects lately. But, the company did invest $2.5 million worth of real estate assets when it was active in the United States.
