The player aims for a badugi, a 4-card hand without any cards from the same suit and the same value or rank. An ace has the value of 1. A badugi is not a guarantee of a win, however, as other players have better badugi hands.

Texas Hold'em has two compulsory bets. They are placed before each hand begins. These are known as the big blind or the small blind. Each player must call again, raise or fold based upon their current five-card poker hands. The action continues clockwise until all raises are called or all poker hands have been folded.
