WRUP: Regime Change Version
Regular readers of the location know that the upper administration is being shifted round here at Massively, which means that Brianna Royce will now be in cost. Whereas we'll always miss Shawn Schuster's unmistakable voice and work on the site, the change will possible seem invisible to most readers.

I, for one, wish to welcome our new overlord, for whom I have nothing but respect and admiration. By complete coincidence, this week's header picture happens to be of her favourite animal. Also, I could have sent a number of gift baskets of fruit to her house. And I am positive we can all agree that earlier cases of tomfoolery shouldn't be taken under consideration when she now considers that she has full energy over me.

Shifting on from the welcoming of overlords, it is time for this week's installment of WRUP, featuring the Massively workers explaining our plans for the weekend in addition to whether or not a graphical upgrade would convey us back to our first MMOs. Try our plans previous the break, and tell us what you may be up to in the feedback!

@Beau_Hindman: I'll be settling down on a new deed in Wurm Online, continuing to grind my teeth as I look ahead to my new Laptop to get here, and placing my exploration cash the place my mouth is by lastly downloading IMVU. It is a social MMO that looks very... totally different. I am additionally still gathering my record of pre-World of Warcraft MMOs for coverage. Fortunately I still have most of my old accounts!

If I up to date any graphics for a few of my favorite video games, that will mean a downgrade for many of them. I need graphics which are extra stylized, notably like these in Free Realms or Clone Wars Adventures. I'd love to see a "critical" sport executed with a more stylized aptitude. Wurm Online can keep how it is, but I actually need to see some new avatars. I do know they're coming, but boy, I can't wait!

@nyphur: This weekend I will be entertaining a visiting Swedish friend from my outdated World of Warcraft guild, working laborious on Predestination, and attempting to convince my housemates to play more Guild Wars 2!

My first MMO was RuneScape, and its graphical updates have actually brought me again several instances. I started back when it was a blocky world with 2-D goblin sprites, and the first large 3-D replace hooked me back in for several months. I've returned periodically to see what the sport is like, and the graphics are positively the first thing I search for. EVE On-line has the identical effect, with large graphical updates pulling people again in to attempt the game once more.

@nbrianna: I'll be dividing my recreation time between Guild Wars 2 and Metropolis of Heroes. Double XP is on permanently in CoH, I hear, so it is the perfect time to roll up a brand new character in time for the Positron's Ally event next week.

My first MMO was Ultima On-line, and graphical upgrades did convey me back many instances. That recreation has had extra improved purchasers than any MMO I know... however those upgraded purchasers often get abandoned by the workforce before they're completed as a result of most of the veterans simply refuse to change. Very irritating!

@Eliot_Lefebvre: City of Heroes, Star Wars: The Old Republic, and the ever-common Offering Assist to a Loved One with a Chilly. At some point I will really play Guild Wars 2 for more than 10 minutes at a stretch. If I'm fortunate, it is going to be before the top of the decade.

I am actually the fallacious person to ask about returning to a recreation for a graphical upgrade as a result of graphics have by no means been what's turned me off from a recreation. I didn't initially leave Closing Fantasy XI due to the graphics; I left because the game wasn't really fun to play. If I see signs that the sport I did not like X period of time ago has gotten higher, I will come running right again, but placing a new coat of paint on a sport I wasn't enjoying doesn't lure me back.

@elixabethclaire: The key World continues to be on pause for me as I commit my time to Guild Wars 2. I might like to hit eighty by the center of the upcoming week, so I'll be doing lots of PvE and WvW this weekend. I didn't imply to, but I've acquired a whole agenda plotted out for my non permanent "principal" after she hits 80, not to mention a bit roster of who is in need of leveling after her.

Not a lot gaming for me this weekend. Perhaps some The secret World.

I go back and play all of my previous MMOs anyway regardless of updates, although I am very a lot wanting ahead to Anarchy On-line's eventual reskin.

@Sypster: My MMO to do record is a mile extensive at this level. I really need to put a cap on Volume III Ebook 6 in Lord of the Rings Online, try the brand new Autumn Festival in RIFT, get through Egypt in The secret World, and make the large bucks in Guild Wars 2.

As for graphical upgrades, well, if Anarchy Online ever gets that newfangled redux off the ground, then you possibly can bet I will be first in line. It might be great to see what a slightly extra updated AO would appear to be.

@JayeRnH: This weekend I am busy with a family journey, but in any spare time I've, I'm going to log into RIFT and hang out next to Atrophinius in the Autumn occasion simply to hear his hilarious voice-overs. Apart from that, I'll in all probability pop into Minecraft with the kids so we can work on our tree house.

My first MMO was EverQuest, and I'd be more prone to return if the sport actually reverted back to the outdated graphics of avatars and revamped zones.

@mvmatt: This weekend is my roommate's birthday, so we've received some mutual buddies coming to remain for the weekend. Because of this, my gaming time is probably going to be occupied extra by cut up-screen mayhem than MMO funtimes. But if the opportunity arises, I'll be splitting my time between The secret World and Guild Wars 2.

And would I go back to EverQuest or Ultima Online if both one acquired a graphical replace? That is an excellent question. I want to say yes, however I don't know if I'd be telling the truth. I cherished UO and EQ again within the day, however I think it would take a bit more than a graphical upgrade to make me a player once more. For each charmingly dated feature that I fondly remember, there is a plethora of really archaic design decisions that I do not suppose I might be in a position to place up with.

@MJ_Guthrie: Oh my gosh! I get to game this weekend!! *nearly faints with excitement* How much can I cram in? Let's see, the vote will not be in for Select my Adventure, so The secret World can be on hold until Monday. (By the way, go vote!). To fill minecraftservers , I'm going to dive into GW2 extra (I actually need to check out an Asura), begin plotting extra for my EverQuest II group buying district as well as take in a number of dungeons, and unfold my wings in Aion to complete up some quests and possibly even get a couple of rounds of PvP Arenas in. I additionally plan on consuming pizza. Mmm.

I would return in the event that they'd flip the blasted servers back on! (RIP Star Wars Galaxies.)

@mackeypb: I have been playing extra Touhou Hisoutensoku (not that any of you know what that's), as well as League of Legends. I'm at the moment carrying as Graves, though I am pretty certain these studying my column already know that. It feels good to play more airdash fighters, although; I feel like a bit of a void has been stuffed in my gamer heart.

To ensure that me to go back to EQ, it could take a greater sport, not a graphical update. Actually, graphical updates mean almost nothing to me. If the identical EQ graphics as in 2000 were on prime of the GW2 engine, I would still be down for taking part in it. High-quality graphics are a bonus, not a necessity.

@terilynns: I will be jumping into Star Trek On-line this weekend to play a few Foundry missions to talk about on my UGC podcast. I will even be in Lord of the Rings On-line as I find it very enjoyable to farm and craft in that recreation. If time permits, I shall be back in Glitch as properly. And yes, the rumors are true: Some persons are twisting my arm to provide Guild Wars 2 a strive. I might choose it up this weekend.

I'm actually glad this week's question does not apply to me. My first MMO is still my favourite, and it's an attractive game -- Star Trek On-line!

At the start of each weekend, we meet up with the Massively workers members and ask them, "What are you taking part in this week?" (Otherwise generally known as: WRUP!) Be part of us to see what we're as much as in and out of recreation -- and catch us in the feedback to tell us what you're taking part in, too!
