A teenager from South East London has been jailed for sharing a bomb-making manual online, disguised as a guide for the popular video game Minecraft.
Connor Burke, 19, an undergraduate student at London's university, shared the manual on Telegram with an audience of approximately 12,000 users. The manual contained details on how to create an IEDs that are improvised (IEDs).
Police identified Burke through his social media accounts and detained the man at his Bexleyheath family home. They also discovered documents related to terrorists on Burke's digital devices. This was all recorded by Woolwich Crown Court.
The court was also informed that the search of his bedroom found a copy of Adolf Hitler’s Mein Kampf and The Anarchist Cookbook. These books offered advice on building explosives.
In a July 2021 hearing, he pleaded guilty in the dissemination of terrorist publications, and to four counts of possession of a document that could be of use to someone committing or preparing an act of terror.
He was sentenced at Woolwich Crown Court to a total of 42 months' imprisonment and an additional 12 months of licence.
