Hair Length:

To get the best results, always make sure that your hair is an appropriate length for waxing. For hair that was previously shaved, stubble will be extra resistant and may need to grow out longer, but, usually, the optimum length for waxing is about half a centimetre (think the length of a grain of rice). If your hair is too long, use small scissors like the Parissa Brow Scissors to trim your hair to that optimal half centimetre. Be careful not to trim too short!

Exfoliate weekly:

It’s important to create an exfoliation routine to achieve that perfectly smooth skin you’ve been dreaming of. Exfoliation helps to open your pores while removing dead skin, resulting in a smoother wax with less irritation! The Parissa Ingrown Rescue Kit is the all-in-one solution for

your exfoliation needs. It’s effective and so gentle that you can use it multiple times a week! Cleanse and exfoliate with the gentle Tea Tree Soap and Konjac Sponge then replenish and restore your skin with the Parissa Ultra Soothe Oil to ensure your pores are kept clean and clear of infection, dead skin and ingrown hairs!

Read all instructions:

While most waxes on the market today are made with plastics, resins and other synthetic materials, all Parissa waxes are all-natural, which means they will require different pre-wax preparation methods than other waxes. Reading the instructions that come with your wax is always important, even if you’re a veteran at-home waxer. Every type of wax is unique so preparation and application techniques will vary. One thing is true across the board, though - It’s important to ensure that your skin is always 100% dry before waxing. If you find that you are sweating in the area you’re about to wax, applying a small amount of baby powder to your skin can work wonders!

Sugar Wax - Washing the skin:

As we said before, every wax is unique and not all prep work will be the same! When using our Parissa Sugar Wax, we recommend that you wash your skin in the area you are about to wax before hair removal. Natural oils on your skin will interfere with this wax’s gentle formula and keep the sugar from adhering to your hair properly!

Hot Wax/Warm Wax/Wax Strips - Do not wash the skin:

On the flip side, while using our Hot Wax , Warm Wax , or Wax strips we recommend you skip the cleansing step pre-wax! These specific waxes are made with sticky all-natural ingredients, such as beeswax and pine resin, which can adhere to and tug at your skin. If you wash before using these products, you could be subjected to some painful and unnecessary skin tugging! While using Hot Wax, Warm Wax or Wax Strips, you will benefit from the natural oils on your skin, as they will create a barrier that helps to protect you from unnecessary irritation!

Aftercare:

As with any hair removal method, there may be some redness and irritation after waxing. Applying Parissa Ultra Soothe Oil when you finish waxing will help to soothe and repair your skin, while nourishing it with restorative essential oils, such as tea tree, eucalyptus, seaberry, chamomile and peppermint! Wearing Did you see this? , loose-fitting clothing can help to reduce irritation, and it’s important not to sunbathe, take a bath or sweat excessively for 24 hours after waxing, as open hair follicles could be prone to infection. Red spotting could occur but don’t worry, those spots will disappear on their own in no time!

Create a waxing routine:

If you are someone that usually shaves, or has failed to create that perfect waxing routine just yet (sneaking in the odd razor session between waxes), you’ll be happy to know that a regular waxing routine will make waxing easier and less painful! Regular waxing discourages your hair follicles from growing back, meaning that over time the hair that does come back will be less dense, finer, and easier to remove. Hair that has previously been shaved will have a larger and stronger root than previously waxed hair, meaning more resistance and more discomfort the next time you do wax. A consistent waxing routine will result in less pain, both physically and mentally, as you won’t need to worry about hair removal nearly as often - sounds like a win-win to us!
