The Certificate is valid for two years and indefinitely on attending a two-day Refresher Course every two years. This award is the only first aid certification recognised by the Health & Safety Authority.
PHECC first aid response certificate is valid for 2 years after which recertification is needed. This PHECC First Aid Response course is comprised of 3 days of traditional classroom sessions covering theory, practical exercises and assessments. Days 1 and 2 are delivered via webinar with Day 3 in a traditional classroom setting for practical exercises and assessments. On successful completion of this course, participants will receive a PHECC certificate valid for two years from the date of completion of the course. However, the major difference is that they work for the NHS ambulance service and are there to provide treatment until an ambulance arrives. The role of a First Aider is to provide initial treatment to somebody who is injured or ill. They will, depending in the severity of the incident, either complete treatment and discharge the patient, or pass the patient to more qualified medical staff (e.g. ambulance crew, paramedic, hospital).
People who take on this role should be able to assess a medical situation, record findings and take appropriate action in an effective manner. It also helps to have calmed, reassuring rapport with those who have been injured. The reason for this is that training depends solely on the type of area being served. The technical storage or access is required to create user profiles to send advertising, or to track the user on a website or across several websites for similar marketing purposes.
With certifications awarded to all successful students on the course, a course in First Aid will help put in place the steps an organisation needs to implement a successful First Responder policy in the office. It may also help successfully inform other workplace improvements that can have a positive impact on health and safety. A First Aid Responder may be a healthcare practitioner, or a member of the public who has undertaken a First Aid Response course incorporating the Cardiac First Response standard. In addition to CFR skills, the First Aid Responder possesses defined skills in the further management of a patient who has become suddenly ill or injured in the pre-hospital environment until the arrival of emergency medical services . The First Aid Responder is able to assess and manage these patients in accordance with PHECC Clinical Practice Guidelines . This 3 day First Aid Responder training is recognised by PHECC (Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council) in providing approved training in Ireland including cardiac first response.
