Minecraft Snapshot 17w43b

We do not plan to add any new gameplay features or mechanics to 1.13. Instead we will continue to improve the game engine.



This first snapshot will bring two major modifications to the codebase: Data packs and LWJGL 3..





Data Packs


Usage & Installation

A data pack could be or be

zip file

or

Directory

Inside /datapacks/ For example, both of these are fully valid data packs:



/datapacks/CoolPack2000.zip /datapacks/SuperPack3000/



We expect that the data pack will be a zip archive if it is provided to us by a family member or via the internet. Place it in the datapacks/ folder and it will be installed.



If you change, install, or delete a data pack while the game is in play then the /reload command will be used to apply the changes.





FILE STRUCTURE

Pack Hierarchy

Data packs, as with resource packs have a load-order. Unfortunately, there is no way to change or see this at the moment. Sorry! We're working on it.





Note: Recipes?

? We haven't yet finished supporting the concept of data packs for recipes. That's why we don't currently look into custom data packs for recipes and we don't even transfer custom recipes from the server to clients.



In essence... they don't work yet. Soooooon!





Namespaces

It's not a new idea, but I wanted to remind you what a "namespace" is. The namespace is used to identify the game's various items. Mods, maps, or other modifications can add new things but they're distinct. When you are asked to identify something (e.g. the loot box) it is also necessary to indicate the namespace it comes from. If you don't specify the namespace it defaults to minecraft. This means that something and minecraft:something mean the same thing.



Always use your own namespace to add new features. Only use other namespaces if they're explicitly overriding another. Try not to add new things in minecraft generally.



A namespace should contain the following symbols:

Names of...

You can name any thing (recipes or advancements, for instance) but these are the only officially recognized symbols.

The preferred naming convention is lower_case_with_underscores.





LWJGL 3

We've updated to the most recent version of LW

JGL

. This has fixed a number of bugs that have been around for a long time on Mac OS and Linux, and should result in a much more stable playing experience. Fullscreen mode defaults to borderless windowsed now, which means that it's very simple to switch between fullscreen and borderless modes. We've identified the following issues that you may face:



Fullscreen mode on Mac OS X is prone to crash hard. We have turned off the feature until we can find the solution. - In some cases, key inputs may be sent twice. For instance when you hover over an item in the search tab of the creative inventor and press a hotbar key it will be sent twice. The icon for the game on Mac OS X is no longer a grassblock. Again, working on it!





Blocks for structuring

When you use "save" in a structure block, it now saves it in the following location: generated//structures/

When you call "load" in a structure block, we attempt to load from the created folder before attempting data packs. This ensures that saving & loading is consistent.



However , don't distribute the "generated" folder by itself if you're making custom maps. It is better to put everything into the form of a data package. We are grateful!





Backwards compatibility – Time travel!

It's always a problem, but we think that we should be able to say it this time.

We do not support going back to old versions of minecraft in the same folder in which you are running a new version of Minecraft

You are always recommended to run snapshots (and any other version other than "the most recent release") in their own folders. Incidentally, this is also the reason why your tutorial toasts keep popping up ;)





A word of caution

1.13 will have a

lot

Some of the snapshots taken during experiments might smell odd and cause damage to everything. Teamextreme minecraft server This could be one of the snapshots. This is what happens when we're changing everything!





Install the snapshot

Please report any and all bugs you encounter in Minecraft to bugs.mojang.com. If nobody has reported an issue, we won't be able to fix it!



To get snapshots, open your launcher and go to the "launch options" tab. Make sure you tick the box that says "Enable snapshots" and save. To switch between the normal and snapshot version, you will find an additional dropdown menu just below the "Play" button. Backup your world first, or run the game in a different folder (in the "launch options") page.




Snapshots can ruin your world, so backup and/or run them in a different folder from your main worlds.
