Technoblade, Popular Minecraft Creator Died of Cancer at 23

LOS ANGELES (Variety.com) - Technoblade is a top YouTube creator who was a specialist in Minecraft let's-play video was killed just one year after he announced a cancer diagnosis in the family statement. He was 23 years old.



Technoblade's YouTube channel has shared an emotional YouTube video in which the YouTuber's father revealed that his son had passed away. "He was the most incredible kid anyone could ever wish for," his father said. "I am so sorry for Technoblade."



Thursday's uploaded video, titled "so long geeks" contained a posthumous message from the creator to his fans. The message was read by his father. "Hello everyone, Technoblade here. Technoblade's message revealed his real name was Alex. "Thank you all for supporting my content over the years. I am convinced that Technoblade would be my first choice if I had another hundred lives. They were the most enjoyable years of my life.



Technoblade's online store includes a message that says "In memory of his death the proceeds of all orders placed online will go to an amazing organization known as curesarcoma.org." This link is to the Sarcoma Foundation of America.

A statement at the end of the video shared Thursday reads "We the Technoblade family Technoblade we wanted you to know just how much he loved and respected his fans and colleagues. Since the beginning of Technoblade's online presence, he was constantly figuring out ways to delight and reward his audience. He was able to maintain his good-natured humility despite his successes and maintained a delightful balance between his confidence level and his self-deprecating wit. We ask that you honor his wishes to keep his identity a secret and to prevent him from becoming famous.



The statement continued, "This year has been difficult for our son , as we battled cancer at the stage four." He never complained and continued to use his strategic mind to overcome what he knew was almost impossible odds. My son's strength on this path was a shining example to all of us who had the privilege to share it with. We are grateful that you shared his journey with us, as he completed the work he was passionate about for his beloved fans.



According to his father, Technoblade composed his final message to his fans around eight hours before his death. "I doubt Technoblade said everything he wanted to say, but I think he got the main points," his father said.



Technoblade announced his diagnosis of cancer in August 2021. He told reporters that he began feeling pain in his right arm during the previous month, initially thinking it was a stress-related injury caused by gaming. After some time after that, he noticed his shoulder swelling and thought he could have a fractured bone. Then, he was diagnosed with cancer.
