The cycling impresario of Leeds has created a new cycling event: the Leeds Bicycle Film Club. The event sold out on its first night and will screen the documentary "Rising From Ashes" on Wednesday, October 18. The screening was a successful evening, with good beer and cycling-friendly company. Hopefully, you'll join us and watch the film. And if you haven't already, you should. It's free.
Cycle hire in Leeds
The council is planning to introduce an e-bike scheme in the city centre and the surrounding area. The scheme would involve a network of 630 e-bikes and 140 docking stations located at strategic locations around the city. It would be available to the public twenty-four hours a day and seven days a week, as well as offering a pay-as-you-go service. It is hoped the scheme would increase cycling and public transport usage by increasing the number of people on bikes.
The scheme would be similar to the London Santander bike hire scheme, which services around 10 million people a year. The bikes would be powered by electric motors, which would make them easier to ride on the sloping Yorkshire terrain. The bikes would cost PS15 an hour and could be hired for a half-day or a day. If the weather is bad, the hirer would have the option of hiring a pedego electric bike.
Electric bike conversion kit
You may be wondering which electric bike conversion kit is right for you. The answer to this depends on how much you want to spend and the type of bike you have. If you are new to electrics or bicycle work, you might want to go for the Rubbee ebike conversion kit. It features fewer parts than hub systems, and is easier to install. The kit also features a single unit with a motor and battery, as well as an integrated roller.
You may already have a bike that could be converted to an electric bike. You may be able to use it if you'd like to save money on gasoline. The electric bikes sold by Leed are light enough to fit inside a car trunk, and they are usually 22 pounds or less. However, if you don't have an old bike, you can sell it for some cash. The money you make from the sale will go towards the electric bike.
Custom-built bikes
If you are a keen cyclist in Leeds and are looking for a bespoke bike, you are not alone. A growing number of bike shops in Leeds offer bespoke services, including the creation of bespoke frames. Halfords is one of the best-known and most renowned bike retailers, stocking every major brand, accessories, parts, clothing and more. Halfords also offers bike-building in-store and offers health checks, flexible finance options and a range of repairs and maintenance. Halfords has two locations in Leeds, one in the city centre and another in Melbourne Park.
One such bike shop is Lion's Den, in the Potters Bar district, outside the M25. Owner Dan Thomas established the shop in 2009 and has since produced a series of Brat-style chop-down roadsters and cafe racers inspired by air-cooled Japanese motorcycles. The latest creation from Lion's Den was recently featured at The Bike Shed, Leeds' premier bike exhibition. Dan Thomas's bikes have been featured in many international shows, including the North American Handbuilt Bike Show, and he is a frequent contributor to local events.
Decathlon
Leeds is set to get a new bike shop in April. Decathlon is set to open a flagship store in the Trinity Leeds shopping centre, in the former BHS store on Boar Lane. The store will span two floors and include huge showrooms and a full range of cycling equipment and sportswear. It will also offer a Click & Drive service and a workshop service as part of its sustainability project. This new store will open its doors in mid-April and offers customers the chance to test-drive the latest bicycles and cycle clothing, as well as a complete range of accessories and clothing.
Customers can find a variety of bikes and accessories at the Decathlon Trinity Leeds store. Located near Leeds City Square L and Tapped, this Leeds bike shop is close to the mainline railway station. Leeds City Railway Station is eighty-five feet southwest of the store. Trinity Leeds, which is named after the nearby 18th century Holy Trinity Church, is four hundred and ninety feet northeast of Decathlon Leeds Bicycle. Once parked, customers can ride their bikes to nearby attractions, including the Leeds Dock Cycling Club and the City Square L.
