Dhugumaa has always been abusive since the first day he brought us to America and even prior to that when he was comeing to see us in Ethiopia. Me,Firaaol, Miashe were being oppressed,beaten, and he even forced me to strip down with out my consent at age 11 by Dhugumaa He is not capable of raising a child what so ever. All he does is sleep, and watch pornography on his phone. yes, ive gone through his history on his phone and i think the pornography is the reason he divorce my mother because she obviously could not live up to his expectations. when he was unemployed for over 6 years my mom was the one who was helping him pay the rent raise Sanyii. later i came to find out that she wasn't on the lease. he tricked my mother because she doesn't know the law and because of the language he was able to manipulate her.
In my early teens i was a good student. i had a's and b's. one day got tired of being abused, i needed someone to listen to my hopes and dreams. I was tired of hearing "No!" for everything. i got tired of him beating us and locking the screen door with no way to get in the house. for weeks we would sleep outside with my brother Firaool. I had to get away from him or i was going to end everything. with the help of my social worker Susan, i was able to move to transitional housing program at hope street shelter at 16.
