Death Eaters atau pelahap maut adalah sebutan bagi pengikut Lord Voldemort, seorang penyihir ilmu hitam yang paling ditakuti pada zaman kejayaannya. Awalnya kaum pengikut Voldemort ini disebut sebagai Ksatria Walpurgis sebelum disebut dengan Death Eaters. Cikal bakal pelahap maut adalah murid-murid Slytherin yang bersekolah pada zaman yang sama dengan Tom Riddle muda. Modus operandi pelahap maut antara lain teror, penyerangan, penculikan disertai penyiksaan, dan pembunuhan lawan-lawan mereka, terutama anggota Orde Phoenix dan golongannya. Selain penyihir, kaum muggle juga kerap menjadi sasaran. Tujuan itu kemudian bertambah menjadi membunuh Albus Dumbledore dan Harry Potter yang menjadi ancaman Lord Voldemort serta menguasai dunia menjadi dunia yang dikuasai oleh penyihir berdarah murni.
Pelahap maut umumnya memakai topeng, berjubah hitam, dan berkerudung hitam. Mereka memakai penutup kepala dengan ujung atas yang runcing berwarna hitam. Mereka juga memiliki tanda khusus yaitu tanda kegelapan yang dibakarkan di lengan mereka. Tanda ini dapat digunakan untuk memanggil Voldemort, dan sebaliknya. Menjadi seorang pelahap maut berarti pelayanan seumur hidup kepada Lord Voldemort. Jika mencoba keluar atau berkhianat, konsekuensinya adalah mati seperti yang terjadi pada Regulus Black dan Igor Karkaroff.
