3. Properly dedicating your time away from idleness. (spiritual reading, physical labor, studying, fellowship with others doing spiritual enriching things [reading, nature, etc]).
4. Controlling what stimuli your surround yourself with (TV, music, etc)
5. Daily ascetic effort - prayer, fasting, scripture with holy fathers, prologue.
6. Love of neighbour. Helping the homeless. Sharing your daily bread, trusting that God will supply.
7. Regular attendance of the church mysteries, including your spiritual father.
After all of this, it does not matter!
Whether you are a specialist doctor, professor, philosopher, chaplain, etc.
This is all vanity if it does not support those 7 things!
So prioritize those 7 things. and whatever negative conceqences that has on your material / academic status, it is to the benefit of your soul.
Whether it is life as a fisherman, your right hand etc, try to use it to bring you to God and baptise the profession (e.g. St. Cosmas and St. Demian) or if it cannot be, then cast it out and enter heaven without it!
