While RF radiation does not directly damage DNA, it may cause heat to build up in body tissue that could cause injuries to tissues or burns. Contrary to ionizing radiation RF radiation isn't believed to cause cancer. However, certain studies show higher rates of tumors in lab animal models exposed to RF radiation.

There are numerous federal agencies responsible for managing and monitoring the effects from RF radiation on human bodies. This includes the Environmental Protection Agency, the Food and Drug Administration, and the OSHA. They monitor RF exposure to ensure that it's safe for workers. They also urge employees to minimize their exposure to radiation if they are working in high-frequency RF environments.
