James Whitfield Thomson

The writer James Whitfield Thomson grew up in the North Side of Pittsburgh, and went on to attend Harvard College on a full scholarship. After the Vietnam War, he earned a Ph.D. in American studies from the University of Pennsylvania. He then spent time in the Navy as a navigator, and was a member of Andre Dubus's writers' workshop. Later, he earned his Ph.D. in American Studies from the University of Pennsylvania. Thomson is also a former Navy supply ship navigator who served in Vietnam. He spent more than a year researching publishers before selecting the one he believes is the perfect fit for his work. Thomson wrote his novel in a library from 2006 to 2011. After finding several, he eventually settled on Sourcebooks Landmark, a publisher that has published two editions of more than 22,000 books.
