James Whitfield Thomson
James Whitfield Thomson is an American author of fiction. A native of Pittsburgh, he attended Harvard College on a scholarship. After earning a Ph.D. in American Studies from the University of Pennsylvania, Thomson served in the U.S. Navy and was a Vietnam veteran. He has since written numerous short stories and novels, and was recently honored with a Massachusetts Council on the Arts grant. His first novel, Agni, is the product of this rich experience.
His debut novel
At 68 years old, James Whitfield Thomson has published his debut novel. The story follows a couple named Lucy and Matt, who met 17 years ago while living in Pittsburgh. When Lucy meets Matt again, she reveals that her husband has vanished with their children. While they aren't particularly likable characters, Thomson manages to make them feel very real. His children
A former sales executive and U.S. Navy navigator, James Whitfield Thomson grew up on the North Side of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He attended Harvard College on a full scholarship and earned his Ph.D. in American studies from the University of Pennsylvania. After completing his Ph.D., Thomson joined a start-up venture as a salesman. Thomson has published short stories in literary magazines and won a Massachusetts Council on the Arts grant for his debut novel.
